Jack White, formerly one- half of Rock n’Roll revival duo White Stripes, is launching his new project and his first proper solo album, which is scheduled for April 2012.

Judging by the sound of the first two songs to be leaked from the album, White’s sound is stripped from electricity and noise. It looks like he approached his songwriting from a more traditional point of view of: country, blue-grass and blues.

Here’s the first track, Love Interruption.

Peanuts

Posted by DJ • February 15, 2012 at 09:46 AM

Not quite sure why Coldplay are name checking the famous cartoon character as the title of their latest single, but classic comics aside, Charlie Brown is vintage Coldplay – soaring melody over lush guitars and Chris Martin’s tortured angel-like voice. Check out the video, and head over to iMesh, to download the entire album, Mylo Xyloto.

Whitney Houston R.I.P

We were devastated by the horrible news of Whitney Houston’s death. Whitney was an amazing singer, with an unbelievable voice, and her songs will be forever engraved on our hearts.

Check out this unforgettable performance of the Star Spangled Banner, before the 1991 Superbowl.

Whitney, we will always love you!

So stupid it’s genius

Opening 2012 with a guest slot at Madonna’s Super Bowl half time show, and this bold statement of a song, Nicki Minaj is going from strength to strength. The song, Stupid Hoe, is real heavy on the bass, while showing off Nicki’s dexterous flow. The song may be irritating at first, true, but becomes catchy and grows bigger in every repeated listening.

Lady Madonna

Every new song by Madonna is a cause for the world of pop to stop its breath and watch in awe.  Over 30 years in the business, and Madonna still, well, rules, and yes, we know, Lady Gaga, blah blah, etc.

For her new track, Madonna recruits spring chickens M.I.A and Nicki Minaj to give her a bit of street cred and a small injection of young blood. Watch out for her album, MDNA, which will drop in 2012. And of course, you surely saw her incredible Super Bowl half time show, right?

Missing Missy

Honestly, we miss Missy. We miss Hip Hop that sounds fun and groovy and cool and effortless like everything Missy touches. Unfortunately, we don’t have any news of a new Missy Elliott album, so a blast from the past will have to do for now.

Here’s Gossip Folks, which came our 10 years ago. Grab it and other Missy Goodies on iMesh

Azealia Banks is destined to be a big name in 2012. This song was doing the blogs rounds last year, but will blow up this year with Ms. Banks getting signed to a major label and getting featured on the Skins tv series. Don’t get left behind, make sure you get on board the Azealia train now…

Etta James, R.I.P 1938-2012

One of the greatest singers of all times has sadly passed away last week. Etta James sang the blues, she rocked and rolled, and of course also sang soul, gospel and jazz. Here’s an amazing performance from 1962. She was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in ’93, the Blues Hall of Fame in ’01, and the Grammy Hall of Fame twice (!) - in  ’99 and ’08.

Her amazing talent and unbelievable voice will be missed forever. We’d rather be blind than see her walking away from us.

Mos Dev

Newcomer Dev is taking her stab at popstardome, big synth-electro-pop hooks, auto-tuned vocals and the whole shebang. Her album is still a bit far off with a March release date, but she just released the video for Dancing Shoes, so we won’t have to bite our fingernails while waiting.
