Lana at the reception

It requires a big set of kahunas to boldly cover a famous Leonard Cohen song, and Lana Del Rey, surviving an internet-wide back lash against her, is standing up on her two feet, and shakes off the criticism by approaching this song with an untypical minimalistic approach, and with a lot of respect for the original.

Chelsea Hotel No. 2 by Lana Del Rey. She’s still here, folks, and it looks like she’s gonna stay a bit longer.

Keep on keeping on

It’s been quite a ride for Bon Jovi since the glam metal days of the 80′s, with the  very tight pants and the extremely permed hair. But somehow, Jon and the boys managed to stay popular, and their brand new album is no exception. Riding high on top of the Billboard charts, What About Now is another typical Bon Jovi album, full of rock anthems and stadium bangers.

Check out the leading single, Because We Can. Is it a nod towards a famous campaign slogan of a recently re-elected president? We wonder…

It’s been 5 years since the last Fall Out Boy album. And now, the Pop-Punk band is ready to reclaim their spot in popular culture with the ambitiously titled new album, Save Rock and Roll. Judging by the great reception that the first single received, they might actually be right about it…. So see how The Phoenix rises from the dead, with a turbo-charged new song from The Fall Out Boy.

Not in Kansas anymore?

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the classic children’s novel, was first published in 1900, and became one of the most recognizable cultural tokens of our time. It spawned countless renditions and remakes, the latest one is the Disney movie Oz the Great and Powerful, directed by Sam Raimi.

The movie also features this new song by Mariah Carey, the perfect hybrid of Dorothy and the Wicked Witch of the South. It’s sort of an epic pop song that we thought wasn’t made anymore. Check it out!

Synthpop legends, Depeche Mode, are back with their 13th album, Delta Machine. The pioneers of electronic music, who grew to become one of the biggest bands on the planet, are still in good form, more than 30 years down the road.

Heaven is the leading single from the new album, and it finds Gore, Fletcher and Gahan in a classic Depeche Mode ballad mode. Check it out here!

Make it to the list

Nelly Furtado is grabbing a bucket for the latest single to be lifted from her fifth album. The Bucket List is one of those “grab the moment”, “live life to its fullest” kinda songs, always a great topic for a pop song.

And while you’re grabbing the moment, grab the album on iMesh like, right now, if you hadn’t already.

Chvrches are a threesome from Scotland, and judging by their song, Recover, they are destined to be great. We think this song is gonna be featured on countless TV spots, movie moments and we’re sure the YouTube counter will go ballistic. Recover is a catchy track, geared for repeated listening and we hope you get hooked just like we did :)

The man who fell to earth, again

So, we’ve been away for a while. And so was David Bowie. In fact, he was away for ten years. That’s right, ten years. A very very long time by any standard. But despite speculations that he decided to end his music career forever, Bowie surprised the entire world with a new song on his birthday, and a full album that comes out next week.

The Stars (Are Out Tonight) is the second song to be lifted from the album, and it comes with a beautiful video, that features the amazing actress Tilda Swinton. Check it out, and grab the entire David Bowie album on iMesh
