Paul Simon  and Robbie Robertson got their first taste of success in the defining decade of pop music, the nineteen sixties of the previous century. Both of them are in their sixties today, and both have released new albums recently, which are widely regarded as their best work in years.

Here are tasters from both albums, proving that the sixties still rock, and that you can still rock in your sixties.

So who’s the first Lady of country then?

Posted by DJ • April 06, 2011 at 11:14 AM

Another new twist in Lady Gaga’s career – her latest single was just released officially as a country song. Well, at least what Lady Gaga calls country. More details, in her press release:

SANTA MONICA, CA – April 4th, 2011 – The country version of Lady Gaga’s smash hit “Born This Way” has become such a viral sensation since being released through her Twitter page that she has decided to officially issue the track for sale on April 5th with a portion of the proceeds to benefit charity.  The “Born This Way – Country Road Version”, produced by Lady Gaga and Fernando Garibay, was recently recorded while on tour and features new Lady Gaga vocals and added guitar and harmonica.  First released March 24th as a gift to her fans (she has become the first person on Twitter with 9,000,000 followers), overwhelming praise for the recording–marked by over 1,000,000 YouTube views in it’s first few days of release–has prompted Lady Gaga to release the track officially, with Lady Gaga, her record label, and her publisher donating a portion of the proceeds from sales

LCD on (Arcade) Fire

Posted by DJ • April 04, 2011 at 08:44 AM

One of the most influential acts of the last 10 years, LCD Soundsystem, has called it quits. This week they performed a sold out show at the Madison Square Garden, at their home turf, New York.

The show was a mind blowing affair, over 3 and a half hours, revisiting many highlights from their career. One of the highlights of the show was the live collaboration with the other stars of the alternative scene, Arcade Fire, who joined James Murphy and the DFA gang for a one time version of North American Scum.

Goodbye LCD Soundsytem, you will be missed!

(The original footage was removed from youtube, so we give you instead this clip, which was taken by one of the fans at the gig)

Bizness is the first track from her new album, W H O  K I L L  (What’s with the weird spelling..?). It’s not just a special little song, it has got a lovely video clip. Check it!

Don’t hold it against her

Posted by DJ • March 29, 2011 at 10:16 AM

She was already called a has-been, a wash out, a pop figure from the past, but Britney Spears has managed to pull it off and shoot herself back to global stardom, with this glorious comeback. Hold it Against me is the first huge hit from her new come-back album, and the song even features an adventurous dubstep break in the middle.

The fight over the title of queen of pop has never been so fierce!
