Everyone is Still Talking About Miley Cyrus’s VMA Show
Last week Miley Cyrus preformed at the MTV Video Music Awards. She stuck her tongue out repeatedly and twerked up against Robin Thicke. There was a huge reaction to Cyrus’s performance. As a matter of fact people are still talking about this, a week after the show aired.
During and after the show. Many took to Twitter to discuss it. Though not all of it was positive, Miley was proud of all the attention she was getting.
Smilers! My VMA performance had 306.000 tweets per minute. That’s more than the blackout or Superbowl! #fact.

The negative comments kept coming for Cyrus. During the performance she danced around and touched herself with a giant foam finger, the kind seen at sporting events. The creator of foam finger also took offense to the show. He had this to say about it “She took an honorable icon that is seen in sporting venues everywhere and degraded it.” Not everyone was offended by Miley’s out there performance, Miley recently quoted her dad on Twitter as saying the following.
“Mile, if twerkin woulda been invented…. And I had a foam finger…. I woulda done the same thang you did.” – DAD

Justin Timberlake also defended Miley during a radio interview last week. He felt that the performance was to be expected for the VMA’s.
There were rumors after the VMA’s that her management was furious with her and she was off the rails but apparently that is not the case. Her manager Larry Rudolph was quoted saying that the performance couldn’t have gone better.
Everyone has an opinion on the performance, whether they think it was a display of the moral degradation of our society or they loved it and thought she put on a great show. Some complained about her next to nothing outfit, though Lady Gaga showed more skin in her VMA performance. Others were offended by the way Miley was touching herself, though if we held male performers to the same standard we have certainly seen more lewd performances than that.
Perhaps people are just upset to see how drastically she has changed since her days as Hanna Montana. Personally I think Miley Cyrus got out there and acted as ridiculous as humanly possible to get everyone’s attention and it worked. Now that she has our attention, I wonder what she will do next.
Did you think Miley’s performance was offensive?
