Boardwalk Vampire

Posted by DJ • April 30, 2013 at 08:36 AM

Actor and director genius, and star of the HBO series  Steve Buscemi, is in cahoots with New York’s indie poppers, Vampire Weekend. The collaboration produces a series hilarious promotional videos for the band, produced by Buscemi, and targeting mainly him as an out of touch character.

The second video in the series places the band in the subway, and later, playing bowling together. Take a look.. and if you’re here only for the music, here’s Dinae Younge, a teaser from Vampire Weekend’s forthcoming album.

Imagination

Jessie Ware is a UK star, making her way from the underground scene of London to the national charts in no time at all. She’s now trying to take over the world, and this new single, produced by UK electronic music star, Julio Bashmore, is her attempt at doing just that.

It’s a great 90′s sounding dance/pop crossover, and we hope it gets her all the world attention she deserves. Check it out, and check her album, Devotion, on iMesh

The Robots are back. Finally

Posted by DJ • April 23, 2013 at 08:23 AM

Eight years after their last proper release, the French duo are back. We don’t remember such a buzz over a new album sweeping the internet, and after many teaser, fake leaks and radio rips, the first single from the duo’s much talked about new album, Random Access Memories, is finally here.

Get Lucky is a in fact a product of a supergroup – you get the legendary Nile Rodgers on guitar, the man behind the success of Chic, producer of international hits by David Bowie, Dianna Ross, Madonna, Duran Duran and many others; and on vocals, Pharrell Williams of the Neptunes/N*E*R*D and a ground breaking, hit making producer on his own right.

The track sounds exactly like you would imagine – vintage disco meets the robot swag of Daft Pank and the suave vocals of Pharrell. Check it out!

Back to the Basement

Basement Jaxx are a UK duo, responsible for ground breaking dance music in the 90′s & 00′s and some of the greatest pop moments of the previous decade. They are now back with an infectious new song, Back 2 the Wild, which is a great piece of psychedelic, tropic pop, with an extraordinary video.

Give this a spin, and see how you are drawn back to the wild, listening to the cries of mother nature!

Paisley Park

The smell of Summer is already starting to spread, and Brad Paisely is taking a stab at scoring the ultimate summer hit with his new single – Beat this Summer, a nostalgic piece of laid back rock featuring a couple of cute kids on the newly released video.

China in your hands

Chris Brown is the world’s biggest bad boy. Ask any Rihanna fan. It makes it really difficult to hate him though, when he releases such a great pop song, which gives Justin Timberlake a run for his “I am the new Michael Jackson” campaign. Fine China is a smooth, groovy and delicious track, we wish more pop music would sound like that in 2013.

So Chris Brown might be a scumbag, but we have to give him that – he is a great musician, dancer and singer.

The Creator has a master plan

Tyler, The Creator, is one of Rap’s greatest new hopes. Leading his Odd Future crew, which already set the world on fire with the Frank Ocean album, Tyler is like no other rapper you’ve ever seen. He is sharp and has a quirky flow like no other, the beats he rhymes over are twisted and fresh, and he is as far as you can think from your typical bling waver top 40 rapper, which is probably why we like him.

Check out the leading video from his new album, Wolf. What a video!

Lana at the reception

It requires a big set of kahunas to boldly cover a famous Leonard Cohen song, and Lana Del Rey, surviving an internet-wide back lash against her, is standing up on her two feet, and shakes off the criticism by approaching this song with an untypical minimalistic approach, and with a lot of respect for the original.

Chelsea Hotel No. 2 by Lana Del Rey. She’s still here, folks, and it looks like she’s gonna stay a bit longer.

Keep on keeping on

It’s been quite a ride for Bon Jovi since the glam metal days of the 80′s, with the  very tight pants and the extremely permed hair. But somehow, Jon and the boys managed to stay popular, and their brand new album is no exception. Riding high on top of the Billboard charts, What About Now is another typical Bon Jovi album, full of rock anthems and stadium bangers.

Check out the leading single, Because We Can. Is it a nod towards a famous campaign slogan of a recently re-elected president? We wonder…

The rising Phoenix, the falling boy

It’s been 5 years since the last Fall Out Boy album. And now, the Pop-Punk band is ready to reclaim their spot in popular culture with the ambitiously titled new album, Save Rock and Roll. Judging by the great reception that the first single received, they might actually be right about it…. So see how The Phoenix rises from the dead, with a turbo-charged new song from The Fall Out Boy.
