Eminem has new single out called “Bezerk”. The single, produced by Rick Rubin is off his new album The Marshall Mathers LP 2.

Eminem showed up at the half time of the Michigan-Notre Dame Game and talked about his new video for the song and his upcoming album. He claimed to be a die-hard Lions fan, but his demeanor was far from excited. He also premiered a Sneak Peak of Bezerk’s video. He seemed really dazed during the interview, but we can only assume he was playing it up for the fun of it and not just as he put it “freaked out by live television”. Eminem explained the album is revisiting the original Marshall Mathers LP that he released in 2000. The video seems to be revisiting an even earlier time than that, the feel of the video is very early 1990’s hip-hop. There are a few unexpected guests in the video including Kendrik Lamar and Kid Rock.

Country music first began in the Southern United States in the 1920’s. Over the years the popularity of country music has steadily grown and so has the effect it has had on Top 40 music. You can see the evolution of country over the years, through its biggest stars.

Fiddlin John Carson was the first major act in country music. His first hit song was “The little Old Log Cabin in The Lane” which was released in 1923.

Hank Williams is regarded as one of the most significant influences in the development of country music ever. He was mentored by Rufus Payne, a blues musician. With Payne’s influence Williams was able to blend hillbilly, folk and blues music.  Williams’ song “Lovesick Blues” was released in 1949 and topped the country charts.

When hillbilly rock became the most popular type of country music in the 1950’s artists like Johnny Cash rose to fame. Cash has become a legend in country music. His distinctive voice and musical sound set him apart from other performers. One of his greatest songs and Cash’s first #1 hit was “I Walk the Line”. The song was released in 1956.

Outlaw Country, a popular subcategory of country music in the 1960’s and 70’s was characterized by artists like the great Willie Nelson. Check out this clip of Nelson performing at the Grand Ole’ Opry in 1965.

The 1970’s saw country pop emerge and country started to become more and more frequent on the Top 40 Charts. Artists like Dolly Parton were a part of bringing country more and more into the mainstream. Parton’s first major hit on the Top 40 Charts was “Here You Come Again”. The song was released in 1977.

In the 1990’s country super star Garth Brooks broke records in album sales and concert attendance. In 1991 he released one of his many hit singles “The Thunder Rolls”.

Shania Twain continued the trend of record selling country artists. The Canadian singer’s album Come On Over is the top selling album of all time from a female act. One of Twain’s most popular songs and a wedding classic is “From This Moment”.

Carrie Underwood won the reality TV show American Idol on the show’s 4^th season. She was the first country music artist to win the competition and went on to achieve great commercial success.  Her song “Before He Cheats” was the first country music song to be certified as multi-platinum.

Before Taylor Swift was a huge pop star she was a teenager with a dream of being a country singer. She moved to Nashville at 14 to pursue that dream and at 16 she released her first single “Tim McGraw”.

Jay-Z’s new album, “Magna Carta Holy Grail” has debuted at #1 this week selling over 527,000 copies. Jay- Z however, sold more than that before the album was even released. Jay-Z made a 5 million dollar deal with Samsung selling 1 million copies of his album for the company to give away to users via a free app which was available on July 4^th, 3 days prior to the album’s release. The deal ensured his album “Magna Carta” was a huge success even before its official release. Not everyone was thrilled about it though. Here were a few complaints.

“Magna Carta Holy Grail” was trending on Twitter the moment the app was released.  Not all of the attention was positive though. There were many users complaining that their download was not properly working, due to some sort of bug. Users complained of apps displaying a white screen after loading. Some even claimed they were so disappointed with Samsung they would make the switch to Apple.

If the app did work for you, you had to give away a lot of personal details to get it. At a time when people are growing more and more concerned about who is collecting information online, Samsung requested an extensive amount of personal information when users downloaded the app.

Privacy groups have asked that Samsung be investigated by the FTC.

Many are concerned about the fact that the RIAA changed their rules to count the 1 million downloads bought by Samsung. Some say that the rules needed to be updated, as the way people get music has changed. Others felt it unfair that the rules were changed specifically to count Jay-Z’s deal with Samsung.

Most complaints about the album were not addressing the music, merely its distribution methods. which his fans seemed quite pleased with.

Movies would not be the same without soundtracks. The right song at the right moment in a film can truly make the scene. Music can make a scene more suspenseful or more emotional.  Imagine the shower scene in Psycho without the music…not so scary. Here the list of most memorable movie songs, the songs that when you hear you think of the movie scene they were featured in and these movie scenes would have never been the same without them.

“Time of My Life” – Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes from Dirty Dancing. When you hear this song and the first thing you think of is Baby running down the auditorium aisle to Johnny and nailing the lift. The song would go on inspire wedding dances for many years to come.

“Gonna Fly Now” – Bill Conti from Rocky. Play this song and you are sure to imagine Rocky Balboa running up the stairs in his sweats as he trains for his big fight. If you are looking for the perfect song to give you a boost at the end of your workout, this is a great one and it captures the feeling of perseverance.

“My Heart Will Go On” – Celine Dion from Titanic. Listening to this you will probably hear Rose whisper “I’m Flying” to Jack as they stand at the edge of the boat.  The song, much to the dismay of cruise ship workers everywhere, inspired people to try and recreate the scene.

“I Will Always Love You” – Whitney Houston from The Bodyguard. This song is sure to remind you of the unforgettable final scene , when Whitney Houston’s character Rachel Marron stops the plane to run and kiss Frank Farmer played by Kevin Costner. The song was one of Whitney Houston’s all-time greatest hits and was used by many to commemorate her life after she passed away.

“Bohemian Rhapsody” – Queen from Wayne’s World. Mike Myers may be best known as Austen Powers but when you hear “Bohemian Rhapsody” you are sure to remember him head banging to the song in Wayne’s World. They say that imitation is the best form of flattery, the creators of Wayne’s World should be very flattered. The scene continues to be spoofed and referenced in clips constantly.

It’s been a long wait, but it’s finally over. The new Daft Punk album is playing at my house. The french humanoids have swept the world with their album pre-launch campaign. Ads on SNL, mysterious messages, audio snippets of songs floating, celebrity guest stars videos… you name it.

So far, there isn’t an official video for any of the album songs, but here we are giving you a playlist of 2 videos – the first is one of those teasers, where you see Daft Punk unboxing their own new album, followed by the audio for the first single, and probably the biggest hit of the summer, Get Lucky. Featuring Pharrell of the Neptunes, and Nile Rodgers of disco gods, Chic.

David Bowie could have taken the safe route. Release a new album, do a couple of interviews, shoot a few mild videos, and be back home in time for his afternoon tea. But no – even in his 60′s, Bowie likes a bit of a good old controversy. In the video for the title track of his last album, The Next Day, he summons the actors Gary Oldman and Academy winner, Marion Cotillard.

In the video, which has been removed from Youtube, and then brought back, Bowie acts as a sort of Christ and Oldman is christian priest who condemns him. There’s also quite a bit of blood in the chapel. Take a look, and then head over to iMesh to download the entire album.

Pusha T delivers one of the greatest hip hop tracks we heard in a long time. The Clipse rapper is rhyming over seriously sick beats, which sounds old school as much as it sounds like something totally fresh and futuristic.

30 years in the business, and it looks like the Pet Shop Boys are laughing at the face of laws of physics. The duo has a new album coming out in July, and this track, Axis, sounds totally vibrant and up to date, while drawing from a rich tradition of electronic dance music.

The surprising factor is that we can’t really hear the familiar voice of Neil Tennant, as the track is a pure adrenaline rush of pulsating synthesizers and drum machines. Press play and lose yourself in the music.
