His constant brushes with the law and participation in gang related violence did give him fodder for his lyrics but it also put his life in danger. Being hot at several times, the rapper has survived the rough necks of the hood to record platinum selling album.
The Early Troubled Life
Born in Brooklyn, New York to Jamaican parents, David Darrel Brown went through a lot of trouble as an early teen. He was selling drugs on the street and was not able to focus on school. His drug pedaling days nearly cost his life after several gang related violence escalated beyond his control. Looking for way out, jut like the many that lived out on the streets he started rapping and played local events. He performed for Baby Williams who was impressed with the street smart and mean street songwriting influence in his rapping. Buck was signed and he started touring for the record label for nearly four years
He still was not able to start his own solo work and therefore decided to leave the Cash Money records; as Buck new rapper 50 Cent from his early teens, he connected with 50 Cent and was later signed to G-Unit Records.
The Solo Album
50 Cent gave Young Buck his mainstream start by featuring him on the track Blood Hound from the hugely successful solo album “Get Rich or Die Trying”. He would also make an appearance on the G-Unit album “Beg for Mercy” which was certified platinum. As promised by 50 Cents, Young Buck started recording his first album, the rhymes an words ringing in his head for many years, it was the moment had had been waiting for a long time. Young Buck grabbed the opportunity with both hands and immersed himself into the project with all his determination and aggression. The album titled “Straight Outta Cashville” was a play with words of the Dr. Dre’s NWA iconic “Straight Outta Compton”. Several G-Unit players produce the album which is critically hailed as a true gangsta album coming from scarred personal experience and delivered with angst and vengeance.
The Troublemaker
The album is a huge hit and sells a million copies giving Young Buck the perfect start to a sol career. However the success and good times are short lived as the Vibe Awards incident saw the rapper get arrested. Constantly battling with his G-Unit comrades led to him being dismissed by 50 Cents; however he still had one album contractually due to the G-Unit records.
He continued to slander the G-Unit publicly he released his second album “Buck the World” produced by 50 Cents, Dr. Dre and Eminem. The album received favorable reviews and has been certified Gold selling another 1.2 million units worldwide.
Young Buck has unfortunately known for his constant feuding nature with everyone from The Game, Lil’ Wayne and DJ Khaled. But it was his fight with 50 Cents which created a lot of controversy for the artist. 50 Cents released a tape conversation between the two which clearly showed the reason for the feud was that Young Buck owed 50 Cents money
In 2006 he started to create his own record label “G-Unit South” which had initial support from Jimmy Iovin’s Interscope Records, but the plan fizzled out. He then started using the name Cashville and signed several artists like Outlawz and C-Bo. He was able to negotiate and get a deal with RED Distribution part of Sony Music. He started focusing more on his record label Cashville Records stating that he does not need a major label support to be relevant or even survive in the Rap world.
Though by 2009, he gave an interview saying he has no issues with the G-Unit or 50 Cents. He recorded hi new album tentatively titled “The Rehab” which is scheduled to be released in 2010.

Initially a friend and confidant of rapper 50 Cent, the relationship has fallen apart with the two-sides consistently taking jabs at each other
