I play more Halo than any other human and I will own you with it. We also enjoy Madden Football and Chris plays Buck Hunter because he’s a hick.
Formation
The band Underoath was began in late 1997 by Dallas Taylor and Luke Morton in the city of Ocala, Florida. The two recruited Aaron Gillespie from Morton’s church that he attended, another guitarist named Corey Steger, and finally the bassist named Octavio Fernandez. There were just in high school at the time. The group would spend the next year touring the state of Florida and playing at concerts and festivals of a more localized nature. It wasn’t until 1999 that the band would first sign to a record label.
Start Up
The group signed to the Alabama record company called Takehold Records in 1999 and would go on to release their first studio album called Act of Depression. Although not a breakthrough album by any means, the band would support the album by still playing the usual localized venues and would eventually sell two thousand copies. The group went back into the studio to release their next album titled Cries of the Past, which gained a little more attention mostly in part because of their local recognition and would sell three thousand copies very quickly before being vaulted due to the fact that their record company was bought out.
The band would be signed to Solid State Records as a result. On February 26, 2002, the group would release their first album under their new record company called The Changing of Times, which started them on the road of a more Christian based art form. Although criticized by fans and critics, the album would sell more than both previous albums combined. The album was supported when Underoath was invited to join the Warped Tour but this would come to a quick end due to internal struggles and one member leaving the band. The band would not let this break them apart and would go on tour with the band Atreyu in August of 2003.
New Lead
Work would begin after new additions to the band and everything sorted out. The group took a little time off at the end of 2003 but was right back in the studio and would release the album They’re Only Chasing Safety in the early summer of 2004. The album would prove to be their first commercial success and would sell one hundred thousand copies in its first week. Over the next few years, the band would perform as headliners on their own tours and create a few music videos that received descent reception form music video networks on both television and the internet.
They would also continue to tour on the festival circuit such as the Taste of Chaos, which helped gain them popularity with audiences looking to see other bands. The band went back to the studio in January of 2006 to record their fifth album called Define the Great Line, which was somehow leaked onto peer sharing file programs before its release. With the group’s new found fame, they had also garnered international support as well. They would travel across the globe, one time to Sweden for a music video. In 2008, the group needed some time off just like most people and rumors surfaced that there were some internal fights being waged.
However, it would eventually seem like there was nothing to these rumors as the band would be scheduled to release another album later that year. The rock group Underoath has gone through many changes since its first inception although these have proven to be the right moves for the relatively young band. Fans can view their up coming events and may be able to receive free music downloads at certain websites on the internet of their music.
