Especially in the entertainment industry, because you have to focus on yourself and your career every day, it's really important to do things that remind you that it's not just about you; things that really take you back to reality.
The Early Years
Patricia Lynn Yearwood was born in Monticello, Georgia. She attended Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, and studied business administration. She completed an internship at MTM Records and was ultimately hired permanently. Encouraged by the people at MTM, she recorded a few demo tapes and sang back-up for various artists, including Garth Brooks. Brooks helped her get acquainted with people at his recording studio, and she signed a contract with MCA Nashville Records.
After touring with Brooks as his opening act on his No Fences Tour, she came home and released her own debut album, Trisha Yearwood. Her lead single, She's In Love with the Boy, went to #1 on the country charts and brought her instant national recognition. The album hit #2 on the US country charts and #6 on the Canadian charts and certified double platinum.
Diverse Career
Yearwood's follow-up album, Hearts in Armor, also certified platinum. Four singles from the album hit the top ten, including Walkaway Joe that peaked at #2. Hearts in Armor was a different from her first album, in that it was mostly ballads. Diversifying again, Yearwood released The Song Remembers When in 1993. Combining folk and pop music, the album peaked at #2 and gave her another platinum album.
Trisha Yearwood released three more studio albums and a Christmas album by then end of the 1990s. All were critically acclaimed and all were commercially successful. In 1997, she released a compilation, (Songbook) A Collection of Hits, which certified quadruple platinum. She was inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry by Porter Wagoner in 1999.
Success in the 21st Century

In 2005, she released Jasper County, which peaked at #1 on the country charts and certified gold. In 2005, she participated in the Broadway Goes Country concert, which featured country stars like herself and Carrie Underwood, as well as Broadway stars, such as Idina Menzel from Wicked.
Her most recent album, Heaven, Heartache, and the Power of Love, was released in 2008. Her next album is due out late in 2010.
