Early Years
Trace Adkins was born and raised in Louisiana and showed his interest in music at a very age. While in school he joined the gospel choir and would continue to play guitar. He graduated from college where he played football. Adkins moved to Nashville, Tennessee and started performing at the cities bars. He received attention and signed a recording contract with Capitol Records
Country Journey Begins
Trace Adkins released his first single “There’s a girl in Texas” in 1996, which charted and on the Country Music charts and even cracked the Top 20. He released his first full-length album “Dreamin’ Out Loud” before the end of the year. The album featured several hit singles and would eventually peak at No.6 on the US country charts. The album also found commercial success on the mainstream US charts by peaking at No. 53, the album has been certified platinum – largely due to the hugely successful single “(This Ain’t) No Thinking Thing”
In 1997, he released his second album “Big Time” which featured the single “The Rest of Mine”. The album was his second consecutive platinum certification. After entering rehab for alcohol due to a very public drinking and driving arrest, he returned with the album “Chrome” in 2001. The album was certified Gold and was his highest charting album.
Commercial Breakthrough
Trace Adkins released “Coming on Strong” which reached No.3 on the US Country Charts featuring the Gold single “Rough and Ready”. He made TV appearances which included game show Hollywood Squares. In 2005 he released his biggest commercial hit “Songs About Me” which debut at No.1 on the Country charts and even had cross-over success by reaching No.11 on the US Mainstream album charts. The hit album was largely due to the single “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk.” The single was major commercial hit. The album has sold 2 million copies in the US.
“Dangerous Man” was his second No.1 Country album and reached No.3 on the US mainstream charts, but only managed to reach a Gold certification.
Adkins released a song “Muddy Water” which was an easy ballad and reached No.22 on the Country Singles charts. The ensuing album “X” used more relaxed production and reached No.7 on the Country album charts. Adkins will reportedly release a new album in 2010.
