The group would start out under the name of Develish but later change the name to Tokio Hotel under the advisement of others. They would sign with Sony Records although their contract would be terminated before they could release their first album and go on to sign with Universal Music Group.

Career Start

The group would go to the studio and work on their first album that would be called Schrei, which would immediately get the band attention when the first single off of the album called Media Control would make it to the number fifteen position and climb to the number one position on the international pop charts. Their second single off of the album was called Schrei, which meant scream in German, and it also would go on to the number five position of the German charts.

The album would have other singles to be released as well although they would not chart as their first two singles. The group would go on support for their album and shortly after would go back into he studio to release their second full length album called Zimmer 483. The album was released in January of 2007 along with a DVD deluxe edition. The group would also hope to quickly embark on a supporting tour for the album although in would be delayed to an adjustment in the stage design.

Continued Success

Tokio Hotel would release a few singles from their second album although none would quite chart as well as their previous singles from their first album. They would tour for the album but again go back to the studio to produce their next album called Scream that was actually an English album and was released in 2007 in the month of June. They also made a video of the song Scream off the titled album and release it to iTunes in 2008. During this time the group would win an MTV Europe music award for their works and were also nominated for the title of best band.

The group would go on to release the singles Ready Set Go to hot topic stores across the United States and would gain the attention of the many younger audiences that would further solidify their position in the United States. They would also go on a short tour of Canada to get their music out in that country as well. The group has embarked on many tours during their time and one of their most famous was called the 1000 Hotels Tour in which they toured extensively through Europe but had to cancel because Bill was sick and he voice was taking a beating. He ended up being unable to speak for a total of twelve days due to the strain put on his voice.
