Three 6 Mafia- Making a Difference
"Back then in the '90s, nobody knew who we were. We had to get ourselves out there and be known; put something that would draw attention, and it did."

Three 6 Mafia - Their Beginning
The group started in 1991, in Memphis with DJ Paul (Paul Beauregard), Juicy J (Jordan Houston) and Lord Infamous (Ricky Dunigan) coming together. They were then known and famous as Triple Six Mafia. The group was totally underground and had compilations. Vol. 1 of 1991-1994 Three 6 Mafia made their debut in 1995 with Mystic Stylez. It was received well and was tagged as a possible horror-core material. In 1996 they released Da End and in 1997, they released the Chapter 2: World Domination. They made this move, continuing on with a rush of quick releases and had sideshows with their respective solo albums as well.
The group's fan base continued to grow with the help of some underground tracks, which became a hit. "Tear da Club Up '97" and "Sippin' on Some Syrup"
were in the hearts of many, but this was not enough to make it to the charts. In 2003, they released Da Unbreakables, Three 6's label debut, which was released by Columbia Records. Unfortunately, this didn't break into the mainstream consciousness.
2005 saw the release of the Most Known Unknown in which the track "Stay Fly" became the first major hit. World Wrestling Entertainment superstar Mark Henry uses their song "Somebody's Gonna Get It" from the album, as his entrance theme song.
Reaching the Sky
Stay Fly was a major door opener for Three 6. They won an unlikely Oscar in early 2006 for "Hard out There for a Pimp," from the film Hustle & Flow. Following their Oscar success, Sony reissued Most Known Unknown again in 2006 with some added tracks, notably the remix of 'side 2 side' featuring Kanye West.
In December 2006, Three 6 Mafia contributed the song "It's a Fight" to the soundtrack of the movie Rocky Balboa. This occurred the same year during which DJ Paul was reported to have his steamy affair with Orlando FL artist, Kim Murdah.
The rap group released their ninth album, Last 2 Walk in 2008. DJ Paul and Juicy J appeared in the CBS television series The Numb3rs in May 2008. The story was about a murder of a rapper and was an interesting experience for the group.
The album called, Scale-A-Ton by DJ Paul was released on May 5, 2009 and on 8 tracks, Lord Infamous was featured. Juicy J's Hustle Till I Die also came out with a new album. This was released 16th of June. Three 6 Mafia began to work on their next album, entitled Laws of Power, in May 2009. The album is due to be released in early March 2010.
