The Killer Age

The band from Las Vegas has gone on to become one of the most sort after in rock for the last few years. Headlining summer rock festivals like Glastonbury among others. Their music draws inspirational from the melodic Elton John and Queen to Brit rock guitar sound of Oasis. Central to their music is the vision of their leader Brandon Flower, his often gloom and doom lyrics delivered in the aching voices is core to the band success. Their steady rock album and tours have given the band international fame and success selling over 20 million albums worldwide

The Band Formation

The roots of the band can be traced to 2002 when Brandon Flower responded to an ad by guitar player Dave Keuning. Together they started laying the seeds of the band their mutual love of the Beatles. They recruited drummer Ronnie Vanucci and bass player Mark Stoermer. They started playing together and managed to play clubs in Las Vegas. The band were not finding a record label in the US and by sheer luck managed to sign with UK label Lizard King in July of ’93. They traveled to UK and started playing gigs in small pubs and clubs. On returning to America, they signed with Island Def Jam records.

Hot Killers

The Killers released their debut album “Hot Fuzz” in June 2004; the critical reviews were mixed but fairly positive. The album slowly gained up the charts reaching No.1 in the UK on the strength of four singles that made it to the Top 20 on both sides of the Atlantic. The album eventually sold 6 million copies in the UK and 3 million in the US.

In Oct 2006, The Killers released “Sam’s Town”. Produced by Flood (U2) and Alan Moulder (Smashing Pumpkins) it peaked at No.2 on the US album charts and it was their second No.1 in the UK. The album has sold 8 million copies across the worldwide. It has been critically hailed as one of the best of the decade and features in many year of the end charts. In 2007, the band won two awards at the BRITS award ceremony in London.

They released a song called “Tranquilize” with Lou Reed for the B-Sides release “Sawdust” in 2007. The band released their new album “Day and Age” in Nov of 2008. The song “Human” became a platinum selling single from the album.

The Killers was on a Day and Age tour. But have decided to take 2010 a bit slow as they have been recording and performing non-stop for nearly 6 years.
