The Devil Wears Prada
What we believe it to mean is that possessions don't matter at all and someday everyone will realize that this is true.
Anti Materialism
Taking a page from the famous story that was made into a popular hit movie, The Devil Wears Prada was formed in 2005 to further the message of anti materialism throughout the world. Their fist demo would be titled Patterns of a Horizon that would gain little attention.
The band would go on to include most of the tracks from that demo to form their first full length album titled Dear Love: A Beautiful Discord that was released in August of 2006. The band gained a little more exposure when a web site called Absolute Punk made the song Don’t Dink and Drance available on their web site as a free music download.
Momentum
The band went back into the studio where they would release their second full length album called Plagues in August of 2007. The album would see the release of two singles as well as music videos that gained exposure on MTV and Fuse and would go on to climb the Billboard 200 Chart to number fifty seven.
The album would eventually sell thirty thousand copies, giving it a little taste of success in the music industry. In October of 2008, the album was release once again although in a different format and contained live footage of The Devil Wears Prada performing at the 2008 Warped Tour. The band was not done and although there would be a very short break, they were immediately back in the studio.
Present
The writing and recording began shortly after the Warped Tour was over and the band was in the studio full time once again. They would promote the up coming album as a heavier album that would have some new twists. The album With Roots Above and Branches Below was eventually released in May of 2009. Before its full release, the band had some of their songs available as free music downloads in the form of internet screenings.
The album made it to number eleven on the Billboard 200 Album Charts and would go on to sell a number of copies. There were many of their songs that were released over the internet before the actual album came out. For instance, the song Sassafras was available on their MySpace page as a promotion for the album release and the entire album was available for download from April 24 through April 26 of 2009 before it was to be released in stores to the public.
With the release of the album, they have followed with a supporting tour hoping to garner more attention to the album and increase sales. During the end of November up until almost Christmas of 2009, the band toured with All That Remains and is now playing support for Killswitch Engage. In 2009, Alternative Press announced that its readers had named The Devil Wears Prada as the Band of the Year, an honor the group had yet to receive.
There many fans can follow up with the group on their official web site. Here one will find information on their touring schedule along with other things that would be relevant to the band. Also, there are available internet screenings of their music in many places on the internet. The group has gained a solid fan base and will be around for many years to come.
Did You Know
Many think that the band got their name from the movie but they were actually formed before the movie was released.
