Steve Rushton
I didn't pick up a guitar to leave it hanging on a wall gathering dust for two years.
After he was born on October 30th, 1987 Steven John Rushton was surrounded by music for his whole life. He was introduced to the music world by his stepfather who brought him up onto the stage with his band at age seven. As an aspiring singer, guitarist, and songwriter Steve Rushton joined the band Mr. Cheerful and remained a member throughout his secondary and high school years. The band was influenced by artists like Green Day and Elvis and made several big performances including the UK regional finals of the 2003 Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
In 2005 Rushton left Mr. Cheerful in order to take a spot in the pop-punk band Son of Dork as an electric bass guitarist. Though the band itself was met with mixed reviews their first single Ticket Outta Loserville charted at number 3. Their next single, Eddie's Song charted at number 10 and was used in the soundtrack for Alien Autopsy. During his time with Son of Dork Rushton began to miss playing the guitar and writing songs so in 2008 he took a hiatus from the band in preparation for beginning his solo career.
After staying with the band through two major tours, the Get Happy Tour and the Sic Tour, Steve Rushton left to pursue his solo career in Los Angeles. Right out of the gates Rushton signed on with Hollywood Records. Pretty soon he was participating in the Disney Channel original series The Suite Life on Deck for which he sang the opening theme song and many other musical productions. He continued to write songs featured in movies including Emergency, included in the soundtrack for Race to Witch Mountain and Ready to Rock which coincided with the release of the Disney film G-Force.
Steve Rushton has become a member of the Disney Channel family, having his songs played frequently on The Disney Channel. His popularity led to his participation in the soundtrack for the hit film starring Miley Cyrus, Hannah Montana: The Movie. For this soundtrack he performed two hit songs, Game Over and Everything I Want. In addition to his affiliation with Disney, Rushton has worked with other big name artists including his work doing a cover for the Lady Gaga song Poker Face and opening the concert for Jordan Pruit of Kraft's Mac & Cheese-a-Palooza fame. Rushton continues to pursue his musical career, drawing strength from some of his favorite artists including Green Day and Billie Joe Armstrong.
