Sheryl Crow
There ain’t nothing like regret to let you know that you’re alive.
Missouri Born
Born in the town of Kennett Missouri, Sheryl Crow would get her start in a musical family that consisted of a mother who was a piano teacher and a follow who diligently played the trumpet. Crow would start her musical practice at a very young age but showed herself to be an all around performer as she was a part of the high school band as well as a member of the track team too. She would go on to get a degree at the University of Missouri where she would receive her degree in music composition. She would go on to become a music teacher at an elementary school but would soon follow her dream of writing and performing music on her own.
Career Start
Sheryl Crow would start her professional music career touring with Michael Jackson as a back up vocalist and would perform with the pop legend on the song called I Just Can’t Stop Loving You. She would go on to perform with other music legends before she would embark on her own solo career. She would also perform with other musicians and release albums with these musicians, one of which would win three Grammy Awards in 1995. However, before this she would release her first full length solo album called Tuesday Night Music Club.
The album would contain the hit single All I Wanna Do, which would gain countless airplay on radio waves across the country. It became a hit in 1994 and is still played today by many radio stations. This album would contain many hit singles that would win her more Grammy Awards in 1994 for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for the song All I Wanna Do. She would go on to perform at what was heralded as the music event of the decade, which was later known as Woodstock ’99.
Further Success
Sheryl Crow would go through a period of somewhat of a break and then go on to release the album called The Globe Sessions in 1998. The album would contain the single called My Favorite Mistake, which was rumored to have been about an affair that she supposedly had with musician Eric Clapton; however, she would go on many times to refute this rumor in interviews. The album would win a Grammy Award in 1998 under the category of Best Rock Album.
The album would go on to be certified multiple times platinum and win numerous awards for Crow. She would also do a little bit of acting in the movie called The Minus Man that featured the movie star Owen Wilson. Later in the 2000’s she would be very vocal in opposition to the Iraq war. She would go on the Good Morning America to perform wearing a shirt that stated her position and would make an official statement concerning the war in Iraq as well as President George Bush on her official website.
Present
Crow would go on to release her greatest hits album called The Very Best of Sheryl Crow in 2003 that would hold many of her numerous hit singles. The album would also contain a cover of a Cat Stevens song called The First Cut is the Deepest that would be her next huge radio hit. The song’s success would be compared to the success of her first hit song All I Wanna Do. Her fifth studio album would be released in September of 2005 called Wildflower.
The album would make its first appearance at the number two position on the Billboard 200 but it would not receive very good reviews with music critics although it would be nominated for a Grammy Award in 2005.
