Ricardo Montaner has been a popular Latin Pop star for nearly three decades. With over 22 million of his 15 different albums sold, he is one of the most popular Latin music stars in the world.

Starting Out

Ricardo Montaner , real name Héctor Eduardo Reglero Montaner, was born in 1957. He was raised in the Valentin Alsina in Buenos Aires, Argentina. At the age of 6 he moved to Venezuela. The majority of his experience as a child came from performing in front of his church in Maracaibo. He was a part of the church's choir for many years growing up. From a young age he knew he wanted to pursue a music career when he grew up.

In 1983 at age 26 he released his first album titled Cada Dí. The album was not a huge success by any means but it did get him started in the industry. It was four more years before he garnered positive reviews and more sales with his follow up album Ricardo Montaner. The album produced his two singles that got him his first real success in Venezuela, Yo Que Te Amé and Vamos a Dejarlo. Just one year later he released Ricardo Montaner, Vol.2.that included the hit singles A Donde Va El Amor and Tan Enamorados.

Branching Out

Along with is successful music career, Ricardo Montaner began acting on the hit Venezuelan soap opera Niña Bonita. This new television exposure led his music to become even more popular and widely well known across all of Latin America.

Through the following years he worked with other famous musical artists like Michelle, Ilan Chester, and Oscar Gomez on a number of other projects. In 1995, in order to set a Guinness World Record, he held 3 different concerts in 3 different cities on the same day. This was done alongside Yolandita Monge with the help of a helicopter to transport him in the air from one performance to the next.

Experimenting

In 1997 after Montaner was already an established star and could get away with trying something different, he did just that. He teamed with promoter Pablo Manavello under his new record company Warner Music he released the album Es Asi. This record launched Ricardo into fame in the United States for the first time.

Spanish speaking parts of the country embraced the music and songs like Para Llorar and Es Así became big hits around the world. He was able to tour over 17 countries in Latin America increasing his popularity even more. His songs became popular searches online for free music mp3 downloads all around the world.

In 1999 Ricardo would record his most successful album with the help of the London Metropolitan Orchestra titled Con la London Metropolitan Orchestra. This album was a collection of his past hits along with the Orchestra that managed to sell over 1 million copies. He would attempt to repeat the success in 2004 with another Orchestra assisted album of the same name, Con la London Metropolitan Orchesta.

Giving Back

In 2005 along with his wife Marlene Rodriguez Miranda, Ricardo Montaner launched The Window of Heaven. The Window of Heaven is a non-profit organization aiming to help those children afflicted with physical and psychological conditions such as autism and bells palsy. The group is located in South Florida and aims to help these disabled children through a message of the gospel and faith along with physical therapy with animals such as horses in zoo therapy.
