Born to the double bass player in a traditional Mexican band and named Delfino Infante Garcia, Pedro Infante was born in the country of Mexico and was one of thirteen children where only nine would survive. He was said to show a passion and talent for music at a very young age where he would learn string, wind, and percussion instruments and would become the student of master guitarist Carlos R. Hubbard.

The family would eventually move to Mexico City in order to pursue the musical talents of Pedro and he would sing songs for composers such as Alberto Cervantes and Jose Alfredo. During this time he would gain enough attention to be afforded the opportunity to record his first songs and albums.

Moving Up and Moving Out

On November 19 in 1943, the talented youngster would record his first song called El Soldado Raso under the Peerless Company record label. Although he would start off singing, his talent in the music capacity would lead him to be afforded roles in movies in which he would appear as an extra in the movie En un Burro Tres Baturros. He would go on to perform the leading roles in movies such as la Feria de las Flores and would become somewhat of a sensation later in life.

From a favor from a friend, Pedro Infante would be introduced to Ismael Rodriguez who would invite him to appear in different movies of the time such as Vuelve el Ametrallador. He would meet many ladies over his lifetime and would father numerous children with many wives and mistresses. One of those would be Lupita Torrentera, whom he fathered three children with.

He would continue his acting career for quite some time before he would eventually make the transition to music, which would become relatively easy seeing as he had made himself into a celebrity from his time in the movies. He would go on to start a music career in the style of ranchero and tradition Mexican music and would become another sensational performer in the music community as well.

Music Begins to Flow

Pedro Infante had now solidified himself as a full blown celebrity in the country of Mexico, but he was not yet satisfied with his career and would turn to his original passion to begin his next career. He would release numerous popular songs such as Amorcito Corazon and Te Quiero Asi, among numerous others over his musical career.

He would also go on to record one song in English that would go down as one of the greatest songs in the history of the world. Composed by Consuelo Velazquez, the song called Besame Mucho would be sang by Infante with an associate named Luis Aguilar. He was said to often been accompanied by numerous bands that would help his original sound such as the Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan.

Pedro Infante would capture the hearts of millions through both his music career as well as his roles in the many movies that he was featured in. Through his multiple careers, he would step into the world of aviation as a hobby but would ultimately lead to his death.

He was piloting a B-24D, which was a war plane converted to a leisure craft and the plane would crash just five minutes after its initial take off. It would be announced to the stunned country of Mexico through a radio broadcast.
