Some of the hardest rock bands have learned under this rock band that was formed back in the day that you know as Pantera. It was one of the firsts to get a spot on VH1's list of the one hundred greatest artists of hard rock. They keep on rocking too. It's no wonder why. Their music bleeds of irony and truth with a dark nature. So, where has this group come from?
It Took One Dream
It started in 1981 with just one band member. From, there this guy you know as Dimebag and his brother joined with Terry Glaze, Tommy Bradford, and Donnie Hart. They weren't big in the beginning. They didn't' have their own music, but performed music by Kiss. They were only in 11th grade after all and only performed in night clubs. Hard rock was leading the way during this day and age. They wore their hair teased and wanted to be just like the big rock bands that are out there.
In 1982, the band had a lot of shifts. They added band member Rex Robert Brown as two other members left the band. They became a little bit bigger. They did acts from some of the bands such as Quiet Riot and more. While they didn't tour far, this band did get to go to a few states to promote their work. Plus the music they promoted had promoted their first album titled, Metal Magic.
Following Metal Magic, the band created another album titled Projects in the Jungle. With this album, a new name for one of the band members occurred. Following that, a music video was created. From there, they just kept continuing the luck.
Rocking the Eighties
The eighties continued to be a good year. Following Projects in the Jungle the album I Am the Night was created. Those fans that listened to this found that the band was becoming more of a heavy metal band. Fans paid more for this album, but Pantera got more recognition than they could ever fathom.
A new vocalist helped them to emerge into the band that they grew to become. It took them a hard time. They went through quite a few vocalists until they finally decided upon Phil Anselmo.
From there they created a few new albums. Some of those included: Cowboys from Hell, Vulgar Display of Power, and then Far Beyond Driven. Many of these songs were creating the wave for rock music everywhere. They took over the eighties and made a lasting impression. This was so much so that Pantera is still being talked about on stations such as VH1 and more as being one of those rock bands that helped bands that we hear today reach their full potential.
The band continued on well through the nineties. It was about 1994 that they decided it might be time for a new team member as one of their own started acting a bit odd. While they thought it was being on the road again that got him acting like this, he blames it on the hard concerts that they had to do in the past. He started to drink and eventually became distant and needed some help. The band continued to be on the lead up until 2000 and still going strong. They eventually broke up and Dimebag was murdered, but their music lives on. This is so much so that some of the old members have created a new band and the music continues to this day.
