Owl City - Making it Big in Cities Big and Small

While other kids are making science projects in the basement of their parents’ home, Adam Young was working on creating the best band ever. You can hear the types of music that Young was attracted to when you listen to Owl City. They had a very interesting beginning and it has taken them to being number one on the charts.

Owl City - It Began with MySpace

Owl City’s first record wasn’t published until 2008. The first album was Of June. This was just an EP album. The original album was Maybe I’m Dreaming. Both of these were placed in the top twenty spots on the Billboards for electronica music. While the year 2008 was quite an interesting one and Owl City had come quite far since they had started in 2007 on MySpace, 2009 would show only favor on them.

No Time like the Present

It has only been recently that Owl City has become really big. While people were listening to this music before they even began to become popular, Owl City has really made it big with the latest album in 2009 titled, Ocean Eyes. Unlike some albums, this was released first on ITunes then later the actual CD was released to the public.

While normally you only have heard Adam Young on recent albums, with Ocean Eye’s Young has a companion to bring you even better music. He is joined by Breanne Duren. However, when you see this band perform live, you will see a few people including Breanne. Other people that you will see include Matthew Decker, Laura Musten, as well as Hannah Schroeder.

Ocean Eyes was supposed to have a music video. But just as you have to be careful about who overhears the deals that are going on with your music, the music video was leaked. People learned early on and Young was greatly disturbed by this. Before Ocean Eyes was released this band had success as they had produced four hit singles. The most loved single that they have come out with is Fireflies.

Starting in November, it was announced that this year would be Owl City’s year to do a tour. After just having a song recorded on the 90201 soundtrack, they have come a long way. They have come and struck a level of fame due to the dreams of one young Adam Young.

It is said by many people who follow the new artists in electronica that Owl City is going to go far. This is because they offer something new. Many think that this is because Young was influenced by a huge variety of artists which you can hear every time you listen to his music. Coming this far and having been at the top of the charts for so long is one thing that the members of this band pride themselves on. It’s good that they do, for many people have helped them get to this point, but as you listen to their music, you can see why people favor the sounds that come.
