If there is something notable about Georgia, it is good southern family-raising values and Outkast has been taught that though the music lives on, it's not the money and the player lifestyle that brings you happiness. It is all about living out your dreams and making things come true. Those are the values that Outkast believes in.

OutKast - That's Spelled with a K, Please!

"True happiness is not acquired and you don't find it on sale,"

If there is something notable about Georgia, it is good southern family-raising values and Outkast has been taught that though the music lives on, it's not the money and the player lifestyle that brings you happiness. It is all about living out your dreams and making things come true. Those are the values that Outkast believes in.

Outkast - Where it Went Down First

The two members met early on. It started with Benjamin and Patton who knew each other from school. They met when they had both attended Tri-Cities High School. While the fates and tribulations of life had tried to separate them, boys managed to stick together even though their living accommodations were dictated by circumstance. They were asked to team up by local producers and this group later helped TLC.

Things first took off for the band in 1992 after they started collaborating. They had created their first single titled Players Ball in 1994 after they had joined with LaFace Records and had recorded with a TLC album. Players Ball went over nicely with their audience and soon reached number one on the charts.

It All Goes Uphill From There

While most say it all goes downhill from there, for Outkast, it went uphill. In April of 2004, they had created their second album. It was titled Southernplayalisticadilillacamuzik. Hip hop artists bow down to this record as it led way to a new era for hip hop music. This album features the lifestyle of players and gangsters and has a political standpoint. It was the first of its kind. It doesn't hide anything and shows all emotion of the African American as they are depicted in the Deep South. For this record, they won in 1995 for Best New Rap Group at the Source Awards.

Their second album was put out on the market in 1996. It was titled Atlien. In this album, they made themselves known as the first of the group known as the Dungeon Family. This gave the family a name along the East coast and gave them much fame. Atlien was then followed by yet another album titled Aquemini which was released to the public in 1998. The 1998 hit album was said to be the best album that Outkast has released.

We have mentioned that Outkast has been praised for the work that they do. Half of that is due to the fact that they talk about the true world of African Americans. In their 2000 album, Stankonia the band talks about the break ups and the divorces of some of the most well known African American couples in the hip hop industry. Snoop Dog had also helped them on this album. They kept getting bigger and bigger. They kept putting out more albums as well.

Since 2000, they have produced two new albums. One of the songs from the album Even in Darkness was featured on the Scooby Doo Soundtrack. The song dealt with Witchdoctors. In 2004 Aquemini Records went out of business. The Dungeon Family then started up another recording company. It's known as Purple Ribbon Entertainment. Many Outkast fans are waiting for the album that would follow the album that they had done in 2006. It was announced that after Big Boi and Andre 3000 put out their own individual work, they would work on this album. Stay tuned for that great news.
