From the cold but ever growing city of St. Paul Minnesota, the group Mint Condition formed in the late nineteen eighties with original members Larry Waddell, Stokley Williams, Richy Kinchen, Homer O'Dell, Keri Lewis, and Jeffrey Allen, and the group has managed to stay mostly together up until the present with the exception of Keri Lewis.

Humble Beginning

From the cold but ever growing city of St. Paul Minnesota, the group Mint Condition formed in the late nineteen eighties with original members Larry Waddell, Stokley Williams, Richy Kinchen, Homer O'Dell, Keri Lewis, and Jeffrey Allen, and the group has managed to stay mostly together up until the present with the exception of Keri Lewis.

The group developed their smooth style of Jamaican influence to rock R&B with a mix of funk for good measure. The group would take the R&B music world by storm in the 1990's and find the tops of certain charts gaining acclaim and momentum and are still providing countless hours of entertainment for their many fans around the world.

Gaining Acclaim

In the early years of the 1990's the band began to get small acclaim and recognition by localized portions of fans. Their first album release came in 1990's and their first big break came from the release of their third album called From the Mint Factory, which would later turn out to be their second platinum album.

The song U Send Me Swingin' would go on to battle out one of the top spots on US Charts and would find its way to number two on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs Chart for a time of over four weeks. The song would also go on to break into two other positions on charts across the country as well for their other songs off of the album, which include Someone to Love, and So Fine. However, Mint Condition's better years were yet to come.

Polishing Up

In the mid 1990's, the band started rolling along gaining a solid fan base that would set the foundation for a successful end to the decade. In September of 1996, the band released the album Definition of a Band. The album itself made it to the the R&B Top 15 Charts and would create an upward movement in the group's popularity.

The single What Kind of Man Would I Be made its way to the spot of number two on the Billboard R&B Charts and it would linger on the charts for a staggering forty one weeks before it finally relinquished its hold. A few year later, the band would release the album Life's Aquarium under the Elektra Records label. This album also gained the acclaim with many of its singles breaking into many of the R&B Charts in 1999.

Near the turn of the century, the group continued to treat its many adoring fans with performances all across the United States. The group gained the acclaim of the only R&B/Funk band to have the support by a major record label. However, during this time life on the road and away from home began to catch up to the many member of the group and the band decided to go on leave for a number of years but returned in 2005 to release their next album Livin' the Luxury Brown after creating their own independent label called Caged Bird Records.

The album would go on to be recognized by independent label album charts where it would cap out at number one. While gaining the acclaim they knew they deserived, the band would go on to release their most current album called E-Life, which would have singles that would also make it into the many singles charts across the United States.

Currently

The many fans of the band Mint Condition can follow and track their status on the internet through many websites dedicated to the group. The website has information on upcoming events, the most recent projects the group is working on, and any other aspects that revolves around the music group. The band is becoming a part of a new and emerging culture of music listeners called the adult contemporary genre.

This means that their music is gaining momentum across many different categories, an indication that their acclaim and popularity is as bright as ever. With their smooth style and easy lyrics, the group is attracting the attention of the international arenas as well and it has been rumored that the group may begin some performances over Europe.

They are one of the few bands that formed early in the 1990's that had momentous success and is still together as of the present. Remarkably, the band has only lost one band member along the way who went on to produce for other artists such as the ever famous Toni Braxton.
