Funnily enough, people are being nice to me at the moment.
Beirut Born
Mika would be born in the city of Beirut Lebanon, a war torn city in which his family would be forced to move from, and journey to the city of Paris France. He would have his first musical influence from the Nirvana song called Heart Shaped Box and would then go on to compose his first song. When he was nine, his family would then move to the city of London where he would attend Lycee Francais Charles De Gaulle.
Due to the fact that he felt out of place with most of the students and some learning disabilities, he would eventually be home schooled by his mother for almost one year. Later, he would attend the Westminster School and Royal College of Music and would be afforded the chance to record his first album.
Career Start
Mika would release his first few singles before the release of his first studio album. The singles Relax, Take it Easy would be rated as the song of the week in the United Kingdom and would be featured on his first EP called Dodgy Holiday. Also, his song called Billy Brown was available as a free music download but only for its first week of release on iTunes. After his first singles and EP, it was time for him to make his first full length studio album that would be called Life in Cartoon Motion.
The album would feature a number of singles while many of his already hits would be present on the album as well. Some have compared his music to earlier stars such as Grace Kelley and Freddie Mercury and there is even a song that correlates to these claims. He would be afforded a chance to perform on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 2007 from the release of this album and after would also perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live in March of 2007.
He had by now gained a solid fan base that were buying his albums and singles as soon as they would make it to the store shelves. From this new found success, he would go on to perform on the hit television show called So You Think You Can Dance. After the release of his first album, he would embark on an extensive tour throughout the United States with opening acts from Sara Bareilles and Natalie Lesez. After the tour through the United States, he would start the tour for Dodgy Holiday across the continent of Europe.
Continued Success
Mika would go on to enjoy success from the release of his first album as it was said to have touched many of that age group. On the album, he would sing about certain aspects of living life as a child and going to school with topics such as being over weight and the aspects of bullying, the latter which he would claim to be subjected to while in the public school systems.
After the release and touring of his debut album, he would release an EP titled Songs for Sorrow that would feature four tracks along with a sixty eight page book. His next release would come in the year of 2009 and the studio album would be called The Boy Who Knew Too Much. It has been said by some that this album was a follow up to his first album, or merely somewhat of an extension. The first single off of the album called We Are Golden would make it to the radio airwaves in the United Kingdom in July of 2009. The single would make it to the number four position on the UK Singles Charts and he would promptly follow up with a tour in support of the album.
