Martina McBride
A big part of who I am is just the way I was raised.
Hailing from Middle America
Born in the state of Kansas in the month of July in 1966, Martina McBride put the sleepy little town of Sharon, Kansas on the map. She would bring a pop style to the country music industry and would go on to be one of the biggest female country music singers of the last two decades. Her music would create peaks on top charts across multiple categories and she would go on to be nominated to win many different awards within the country music industry.
Her Start in the Industry
Obviously no lack of intelligence, McBride was offered a scholarship to one of the local colleges and accepted but did not attend for very long. She dropped out after her first semester and began singing with local bands touring the clubs and bars. She began looking for places to rehearse and came across a space in 1987 by a studio engineer John McBride, whom she would later marry.
To further her singing career, the two would pack up and move to Nashville in 1987. John joined the crew of Garth Brooks and would eventually become Garth Brooks production manager. In 1992, Martina’s career got a break when Garth allowed her to start performing as his opening act under the circumstances that she could get signed to a record contract.
Success Soon to Come
Martina McBride’s debut album was released from RCA Records in 1992 called The Time Has Come. The varying styles of songs contained on the album did not gain the attention of anyone in particular. It wasn’t until the release of her second album in 1993 called The Way That I Am did she gain acclaim within the country music industry.
The first single My Baby would reach number two on the country Billboard and the follow up single Life, would go to number nine. Another single received many mixed reviews. The song Independence Day would be played by some stations but not by all. The song revolved around domestic violence and was considered controversial but would eventually get the attention it deserved and ended up winning Video of the Year by the Country Music Association.
The Spotlight
McBride would take to the country music spotlight in 1996 with her first number one single hit called Safe in the Arms of Love off of the Wild Angels album, which would gross one million copies eventually sold. McBride had her first successful album called Evolution that made it to number four on the Country Albums Charts while also appearing on the adult contemporary charts as well.
McBride would continue to release a number of albums to round out the decade with many hit singles reaching the number one position on the Country Music Charts. Her audience was solidified with her relentless tour schedule all throughout the 1990’s and well past the turn of the century. Some of her albums would eventually go multi platinum and she would gain the spotlight through one music award after another.
She would not only be a country music singer, but would also champion the plight of women and young teenage girls and the choices that they were presented with throughout their lives.
She is looked to not only as an outstanding singer, but also as a role model for her millions of female fans across the world. Fans can follow her tours and dates and any up coming news on her official web site where they may also be entitled to a few free music downloads or interne screenings.
