Luke Bryan

"My resolution is to pick one thing and get it done."

This newcomer to country music has already had three top ten hits. He's also had two other hits in the top 100. Hard working and dedicated family man, Luke Bryan is a singer song writer. He has been around longer than most people realize. And he has no intentions on leaving the country scene anytime soon.

Georgia Roots

Born in July of 1976 in Leesburg, Georgia Luke Bryan passed the time by helping his father with his fertilizer and peanut business. He loved the outdoors and playing sports. His mother always encouraged him to sing to her on their way into town. George Straight was one of her favorites.

When he turned 14 he got his first guitar. Once he learned how to play he began to go from local band to local band trying to get discovered. He played at several clubs and bars hoping to get a big break. When he was 16 he was invited to join in on twice a week writing sessions. Two local songwriters who had seen success in Nashville had invited him to write with them at a nearby church. Everybody that heard him sing and play became immediate fans and encouraged him to move to Nashville.

One of his biggest supporters was his brother Chris. He had originally planned to move to Nashville after he graduated from high school. Unfortunately tragedy struck the day that he was set to leave to go to Nashville. His brother was killed in a car accident. Although this left Luke Bryan crushed he continued to pursue music. It was what his brother would have wanted.

The Big Push

Stubbornness plagued him as he refused to move to Nashville after his brother's passing. He enrolled in Georgia Southern University and played with his local band every weekend. While in school he recorded an album contained ten songs. He had written nine of them.

Once he graduated he went back to helping his father with his business. He thoroughly enjoyed working for his father. Although a year into him working there his father forced him to quit. His father told him leave their small town and to go to Nashville to try his luck there. He could not stand to see his son's great talent go to waste any longer. In September, 2001 he found himself in Music City, thanks to the encouragement and pushing of his friends and family.

Songwriter

It was not long before Luke Bryan began a career as a successful songwriter. He helped to write Travis Tritt's album entitled My Honky Tonk History. While performing at a club one night he was spotted by an A&R Representative at Capitol Records. He was signed to a record deal shortly after. His first single, entitled All My Friends Say was released in early 2007. At the very same time another up and coming artist Billy Currington was hitting the charts with his hit Good Directions. Luke Bryan had also wrote this song.

Billy Currington's hit managed to hit number one while Luke's only made it to the top 5. He released two more singles off of this album. In August of 2007 his debut album with Capitol Records was released. I'll Stay Me made it to number two on the country charts. With two more singles to follow, the first We Rode in Trucks made it to #33 on the charts. He followed it up with Country Man which made it to #10. This was his second top ten hit so far. His cover of Run Rudolph Run made it to #42 during Christmas of 2008.

Second Album

In March of 2009 Luke Bryan released an EP that can be found for free mp3 downloads. Entitled Spring Break With All My Friends brought two new songs as well as an acoustic version of his first hit All My Friends Say.

In October of 2009 he released his second album. Doin' My Thing's first single, Do I debuted at #53 and eventually made it all the way to #2. He co wrote the song with Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood from Lady Antebellum. In February of 2010 he plans to release his second single off of his second album. His next single will be titled Rain is a Good Thing.
