South of the Border
Hailing from south of the border of the United States, the Latino rock n' roll pop group who called themselves Los Bukis would go on to form their group from the town of Michoacan in the country of Mexico. The group was started in the 1970's when rock n' roll was at his high point in both the United States as well as the United Kingdom with bands who had solidified the musical scene such as The Rolling Stones from the UK and The Allman Brothers from the United States. The group was started by two brothers named Joel and Marco Antonio Solis who would go on to light up the Latin popular culture scene of their time across Mexico, Central America, and South America.
Upstart
The two brothers would get their start playing together at a very young age. Music was their passion even as children and began dreaming of forming their own group as children. In the town of Ario de Rosales, the two brothers would form their group from little of nothing and would go on to produce a number of songs that would receive countless hours of play on radio waves across Latin America.
Their many fans would sit close to their simple, sometimes home made transistor radios, fine tuning the channels just to catch a track from the famous Los Bukis that were sweeping the many provinces, states, and territories of South America, Central America, and Mexico. Together, they would produce their first song called Falso Amor, which means "false love" in the English language.
The song called Falso Amor, was written by the brother Marco Antonio and it proved to be one of the brothers' greatest hits of all time. The song would go on to sell over one million singles and would be considered a diamond single in the country of Mexico although in the United States it would be referred to as platinum single.
Continued Success
Throughout the 1970's the group would manage to maintain and hold on to a large following. Although industrial technology and electronics did not find their way to many parts of the Mexican rural areas until later, the group would get their music heard in the smaller cantinas and tiendas across the wide open territories that made up much of rural Mexico.
The brothers would tour through the larges cities such as Mexico City and be heralded by its many fans as one of the top Latin Pop groups of the time although this was not ever officially recorded by any registering agencies. The group did gain some acclaim in the United States with their compilation album called Tu Carcel that would make it to the United States Latin Pop Charts at the number three position.
Along with this compilation, the group had other compilation albums to go on to reach the United States Latin Pop Albums although none of them would make it to the top of the charts as the album Tu Marcel. Later on, Marco Antonio decided to create a solo career for himself with such a great run with Los Bukis. During his solo career, Antonio found it hard to find a voice within the music scene.
Along with his solo career, Marco would also go on to produce for many up and coming artists such as Marisela, Rocio Durcal, and Maria Surcal. Many of these would go on to become well known artists of their time and Marco would also gain acclaim for his production of these young artists.
