Early Life
Lloyd Banks had a terrible and disturbing childhood. His father was in prison and he was brought up by his mother. He left school when he was 16 years old and started rapping in the neighborhood; he used to create a lot of mix-tapes something which would his tour de force in the future.
Early Works
He started G-Unit and started recording music. But after 50 Cents branched out by signing Aftermath Records they brought in Young Buck into the group. 50 Cents got back to G-Unit and their music shaped the direction to rap music to more gangsta style. The first G-Unit album went double platinum.
Platinum Debut
In June 2004, Lloyd Banks released his first album titled “The Huger for More”. The first single was a smash hit “On Fire” which featured friend 50 Cents. The album was debut simultaneous straight into No.1 on the US album, RnB and Rap charts. The album went platinum in the US and Canada. The single “Warrior Part2” featured rap superstar Eminem and 50 Cents as well. Banks toured as part of the G-Unit and also appeared the 50 Cent single “Don’t Push Me”. In Aug 2005, Lloyd Banks was charged with possessing a weapon but they were dropped the next year.
In 2006, Lloyd Banks recording leaked into the internet by two women who he had sexual encounter. He released “Rotten Apple” which debut at No.3 on the US album charts and No.1 on the RnB and Rap charts. The album was executive produced by 50 Cents. The album received mixed reviews as many critics cited his work with the G-Unit being better than his solo album. The single “The Cake” only reached No. 65 on the RnB charts. The album was a huge commercial disappointment not a single charted in the US Hot 100.
The Future
Lloyd Banks left Interscope records even though he is still signed to G-Unit records. In 2009, he released a single called “Officer Down” which was a commercial flop. In 2010 he has released his single “Beamer, Benz or Bentley” which has peaked at No. 76 on the singles chart despite no record label promoted the single. The song is a duet with Juelz Santana.
The artist has confirmed the release of his third album “Hunger for More Part 2” sometime in 2010.
Lloyd Banks is also known for his much publicized feud with ex G-Unit member The Game. Both sides trading insults through their raps.
