LMFAO - Who are the two?
Stefan Gordy is the youngest son of the founder of Motown Records Berry Gordy and Nancy Leiviska. Born Stefan Kendal Gordy on September 3, 1975 he has used a number of aliases including Stefan, Redfoo and Foo in his numerous in devours. Skyler Gordy is Berry Gordy's nephew and goes by the names Sky Blu and Sky as the occasion moves him.
Natives of the party town Hollywood, California the two are professed to be all about having fun. Everything from the wild hair to at least one set of feet in the air in most published photos shouts wild and crazy guys circa 2010. With roots in the electro-hip-hop genre LMFAO refer to their sound as Party Rock which they produced in their home studio before signing with Interscope Records.
Becoming LMFAO
Redfoo and Sky Blu's first inspiration for a moniker for their collaborations was "Sexy Dudes". While instant messaging with his Grandma Goodfoot Sky Blu ran that name by her. Her response was LMFAO which is short-hand for "laughing my f***ing arse off". The term caught both artists fancy and it became the name of their group.
The Winter Music Conference is held in Miami, Florida each year and the 2007 conference generated the excitement that inspired the coining of the phrase that is also the title of their first single I'm in Miami Bitch. The alternate title given is I'm in Miami Trick but it is the original phrase that has become synonymous with LMFAO. The party people of the world have adopted the phrase worldwide as a way of declaring the party state of mind. The single topped out at #51 on the Hot 100 Billboard chart. On the first of July in 2008 the Party Rock EP was released digitally through iTunes. The 15 track full album Party Rock was released a year later on July 7, 2009.
Music flow
The duo's second single, La La La, was equally well received by the party crowd and ranked #61 on the Billboard 100 chart. The third track released was Shots which placed just slightly lower on the Billboard charts at #68. The single features Lil' Jon. The creative duo is known to remix hit songs from other rappers like Kanye West and Black Eyed Peas that have done well. Making music to carry forward the fun is the niche LMFAO is filling in the music world today. For two months in 2009 during the Party Rock Tour the group headlined and performed to sold-out crowds with Far East Movement, Paradiso, and Space Cowboy in Canada and the US. The commercial success of the LMFAO party rock sound has further been proven by the use of three of their tunes as theme songs several 2009 television shows. Get Crazy is the theme song for the MTV reality series Jersey Shore while Miami has been used in the commercials for CSI Miami. The group was also nominated for the 2009 Grammy Award for Best Electronica Dance Album.
Returning to their beloved Miami, Florida the group preformed at The Raleigh's 2010 Maxim Party on Feb. 6th. A U.S. tour in the spring of 2010 with the Black Eyed Peas is scheduled and the duo is currently working on the material for their second full length album as well as promoting their group and merchandise via the internet on their own web domain called partyrockpeople.com.
