Kid Rock has managed to create a massive following in the US with his blend of whisky drinking Southern Rock sound with the rap vocals borrowed from Beastie Boys and Run – DMC. But it is his off-stage antics of media brawls and scandalous relationships which has kept him in the spotlight.

Kid Rock – Cowboy Baby!
“I am happy to make money. I want to make more money, make more music, eat Big Macs and drink Budweiser.” – Kid Rock
Devil without a Cause
Kid Rock has managed to create a massive following in the US with his blend of whisky drinking Southern Rock sound with the rap vocals borrowed from Beastie Boys and Run – DMC. But it is his off-stage antics of media brawls and scandalous relationships which has kept him in the spotlight. Kid Rock’s fourth album is one of the highest selling rap rock albums of all time. He has sold over 30 million albums worldwide.
The Early Recordings
Kid Rock was born Robert James Ritchie, to a wealthy family that owned a car dealership in Michigan. Growing he used to play guitar and sing Johnny Cash songs for family gatherings. When he turned 17, he signed a record deal with Jive records against the wishes of his parents. He released his first album titled “Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast” in 1990. The album created a huge controversy when a song was banned with the Federal authority on media for its explicit references to sex. Kid Rock was promptly dropped from the label.
In 1993 he returned with “Polyfuze Method” on a local independent record label. Kid Rock released his third album in 1996 titled “Early Morning Stoned Pimp”.
Kid Rock signed with Atlantic Records and released “Devil without a Cause”. The album was slow to move on the charts and only after the release of the single “Bawitdaba” and “Cowboy” things started turning favorable. The album gained on the charts and has eventually sold a staggering 11 million copies in the US. Kid Rock was not a rock star!
His next album was “History of Rock” released in 2000 which was basically a collection of his old songs for which he had acquired the rights. The album sold 2 million copies. His next studio album “Cocky” peaked at No.3 on the charts and sold 5 million copies.
His profanity driven and aggressive live performances also gained widespread popularity. Kid Rock toured major festivals both in the US and Europe.
Kid Rock moved away from the metal rap sound to a more Southern Rock music which was always something close to his heart. He released the self titled “Kid Rock” which was a platinum hit. He continued the Southern Rock feel for his 3 million selling “Rock n’ Roll Jesus” released in 2007. The album featured the smash hit “All Summer Song” which featured Lynrd Skynrd’s signature tune “Sweet Home Alabama”
His due to release a new album in 2010
