Starting Out
Her father recorded some of her work, and a demo he made of her somehow was given to a representative for Warner Bro. while at a concert of Michelle Branch. Some of the major record labels were interested in her work, includingMadonna's Maverick Records. Michael Seifert helped her produce a five-song EP in the year 2003 titled, The Other Side. Not long after the EP she was able to perform with artists like Counting Crows and John Mayer. In the year 2005, February, her EP Louder Than Words was released.
Internet Success
In the fall of 2006, she became signed to MySpace Records. She then recorded a full length debut album named Don't Look Away in the spring of 2007. Over 250,000 copies of Don't Look Away were sold. A Fine Mess, her second album was released in the year 2009, month of May. The first week alone in the United States the album sold over 37,000 copies in the first week.
Making a Name
From 2004 to 2005, Kate Voegele found herself performing with artists such as John Melloncamp, Willie Nelson, Dave Matthews, and Neil Young, at Farm Aid.
Kate Voegele sang the national anthem twice, one time for the NBA teams New York Knicks and Utah Jazz in New York City at Madison Square Garden, and the second time for MLB teams Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds. Marianas Trench album Masterpiece Theatre from 2008 to 2009, she sang with Josh Ramsay the song Good to You. She performed All Time Low's in New York City for MTV Unplugged. She was also featured in the song Remembering Sunday.
On CBS's television show, The Early Show, in 2008, February 2, she played songs off her debut record Don't Look Away. Mark Tobik was on the bass guitar, while Sam Getz did beat box support and backup vocals. In the year 2008 she also went on tour and opened for the band Hanson, for their 2008 Walk Tour.
Television and Movie Work
Featured on Ghost Whisperer as well as Clubhouse, both dramas on CBS, was her song Only Fooling Myself. Her song, It's Only Me was on The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 and Custody, a Lifetime Original movie, trailers. It was also on MTV's Newport Harbor. The Hills, on MTV featured her song Facing Up. In the year 2006, her song I Won't Disagree won her an award for the New York City Songwriters Circle. Also in the year of 2006, for the USA Songwriting Competition at Borders Books & Music in the city of Austin, state of Texas, she won with her song Only Fooling Myself. On December 22, 2005 in New York City for a charity event called The Relief Project, her and her father performed. With her singing and Will, her father played the guitar.
May 18, 2009, her second album, A Fine Mess was released. Song singles off the album like, Manhattan From The Sky, Sweet Silver Lining, and Lift Me Up, were released on the TV show One Tree Hill before and after it was released. From the year 2008, she had a recurring role on the TV show One Tree Hill on The CW Television Network as Mia Catalano. The show helped her own music career and sales for Don't Look Away rose up. She also found herself becoming more and more popular with free mp3 downloads.
