The international Latin superstar that is known to the world as Julio Iglesias has gone on to bring audiences together across the world. Madrid Born

The international Latin superstar that is known to the world as Julio Iglesias has gone on to bring audiences together across the world. He would get his start in the city of Madrid at a very young age but go on to be one of the leading international performers of the present. He would begin to study law in the city of Madrid in the 1960's while also keeping goal for the soccer team called Real Madrid but a car crash in 1963 would bring his sports ambitions to a halt.

It was said by doctors that he would never walk again much less be a functioning human being although he slowly began to gain movement in his limbs. With the slow gains in his hands, he decided that he should take up the guitar, which is said by some to help speed up his overall recovery. Although he would continue to study law, at some point he decided to give the music industry a try and in 1968 would win the Benidorm International Song Festival.

Musical Healing

Julio Iglesias would go on to sign with a record company called Discos Columbia, which was a branch of Columbia Records and would represent Spain in 1970 in the Eurovision Song Contest where he would win fourth place. He would go on to release a number of singles throughout Europe and had a song under the name of Un Canto A Galicia to go platinum in Germany.

Taking from his extensive education, the singer would then release a number of songs in Italian where he would also gain acclaim. It was not however, until 1981 that he would have his first hit in the English language after he would move to Miami in 1979 and sign a deal with CBS International records.

The release of the song called De Nina a Mujer would go on to be a number single in the United Kingdom and in 1983 he would release the full length album called 1100 Bel Air Place, which would solidify his sound in the United States when the album would be certified multiple times platinum as well as selling over three million copies. A duet with Willie Nelson called To All the Girls I've Loved Before would go to the number five position on the Billboard Top 100.

English Career

In 1988 he would win his first Grammy Award under the category of Best Latin Pop Album for the record called Un Hombre Solo. He would go on to record a single with the industry great Stevie Wonder called My Love but then later on return to his native sound with the album called Tango that was released in 1996.

The album would go on to be nominated for another Grammy Award although he would lose out to another Latin pop singer. He would go on a world tour in support of the album and gain further popularity across the globe for the album Tango where he would meet up with his eldest son, who was also emerging as a top Latin performer. Iglesias continues to perform to this day where he brings his popular style to fans across the globe.
