The Jonas Brothers consist of Nicholas Jerry Jonas born on September 16, 1992, Joseph Adam Jonas born on August 15, 1989, and Paul Kevin Jonas II, born on November 5, 1987. The band actually got their start from piggybacking off of Nick Jonas' success as a solo artist. When Nick was about seven years old, he began acting and singing in plays. As a solo artist, Nick Jonas released two contemporary gospel singles and recorded a solo album that was never released. It wasn't until December of 2005, that the other brothers got their big break when they performed for Steve Greenburg, the president of Columbia Records. The Jonas Brothers signed a recording contract wit h Daylight/Columbia Records.
Teenage Heatbreakers
After signing with Columbia Records, the Jonas Brothers went on tour with Kelly Clarkson, the Backstreet Boys, Jesse McCartney, The Cheetah Girls, and Aly & AJ. The band released their debut single, “Mandy” which was featured on the soundtrack for Zoey 101: Spring Break- U. Their second single, “Time for Me to Fly,” was included on the soundtrack for Aquamarine. The Jonas Brothers also covered songs for the Cartoon Network and the Disney Channel. Their debut album, It's About Time was hit the market on August 8, 2006. The single, “Year 3000,” became a hit on the Disney Channel radio station, but despite their success the Jonas Brothers were dropped from Columbia Records in 2007. They brothers signed a recording contract with Hollywood Records around February, and the band recorded songs for Meet the Robinsons and DisneyMania. They released their second album, the Jonas Brothers on August 7, 2007. This album peaked at #5 on the Hot 200.
Following their success, the band had a guest appearance on Hannah Montana ironically titled, “Me and Mr. Jonas and Mr. Jonas and Mr. Jonas.” Their duet with Miley Cyrus titled, “We Got the Party,” was featured in High School Musical 2. The Jonas Brothers released their third album, A Little Bit Longer, on August 12, 2008. “Burning Up,” “Tonight,” “A Little Bit Longer,” and “Pushin Me Away” all reached #1 on iTunes. After finishing up their Look Into My Eyes tour, the Jonas Brothers made their film debut in Camp Rock, as well as recording several songs for the soundtrack. The Jonas Brothers released their fourth album, Lines, Vines and Trying Times on July 15, 2009. This album went on to sell more than 8 million copies worldwide.
Growing Up Rockstars
In 2008, the Jonas Brothers was announced as the Breakthrough Artist of the year at the American Music Awards and was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best New Artist. Later that year, the Jonas Brothers donated their outfits from the A Little Bit Longer cover artwork were included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band made their Saturday Night Live debut on Valentines Day 2009. With many other famous artist, the Jonas Brothers sang on the We Are The World: 25 For Haiti.
