John P. Kee
I’m living this life just to live again, and with the Lord I know that I shall reign…
North Carolina Native
The singer of gospel and Christian music known as John P. Kee was born in the city of Durham North Carolina in 1962. He would go on to Winston Salem where he attended the North Carolina School of the Arts to further his music career. He would develop into a musical artist at a very young age where he exhibited many talents for both vocals as well as the ability to play multiple instruments.
He would move to California with brothers Wayne and Al to attend the Yuba College Conservatory School of Music and would begin playing with bands such as Cameo and the Blackbyrds. Although California is a great place for creating a music career, it was said that he had a hard time with the lifestyle and would choose to move back to North Carolina to the city of Charlotte. He would watch one of his friends be murdered in a drug deal and it was at this time that he knew he must rededicate himself to the Lord, who came calling when he went to a revival.
Ministry and Music
John P. Kee was said to have received a calling from God when he was on a trip to Michigan, telling him to begin a start in the ministry. He would become an ordained minister in his mid twenties and would go on to build a church called the Fellowship Center located in Charlotte North Carolina where he would preach the word of God to many people in the community and offer his services to those in need.
The organization would go on to be named New Life Fellowship and he would be the senior pastor in the organization. The church was to be located in the same area where he moved to when he first came to Charlotte. It was located in an area that is prone to drugs and violence. It is also rumored that John P. Kee does not retain a salary from the church although this has not been officially documented.
Career in Music
Early in his life and shortly after attending school in California, Kee would move back to Charlotte where he would create a choir in his church. The choir would eventually grow in popularity as well as the congregation in the church, gathering many members from the congregation. The choir would begin to travel around the North and South Carolina area bringing their songs to all those looking to hear a bit of the Lord’s handy work.
He would go on to found what is known as the Victory in Praise Music and Arts Seminar Mass Choir, better known under the acronym of V.I.P. The organization was started to facilitate many up and coming Christian singers and songwriters throughout the country and to give others the opportunities that he received as a young man. John P. Kee has been active in the music industry for over fifteen years in the genre of gospel and Christian music and has released his latest full length album called The Reunion in 2005.
The fans of Kee can visit his official website where they may find free music downloads as well as more information regarding any appearances that he may make or performances by his choir.
