Jason Michael Carroll grew up in the small and sleepy little town of Youngsville, North Carolina to a father who was a minister in a conservative, some may say fundamentalist, church. Carroll's father would not allow any music other than hymns to be played in the house and it was later said that Jason got spanked when his father found a copy of a Billy Ray Cyrus album hidden in his bedroom. He would go on to gain a solid fan base from his home town in North Carolina as well as a solid audience for his performances across the south.
