Jason Aldean - Living Wide Open

"Wide Open is the only way I know how to live. I don't do anything half-ass, and you never have to guess on where I stand on things. I'm pretty much an open book."

Jason Aldean - Destined from the Start

While his dad was at work, Jason Aldean would practice playing the guitar. After his dad would get home, he'd pull out his guitar and they would play together. After only hearing a song a few times, Aldean was immediately able to play it himself. His favorites included country songs such as, George Strait's "The Cowboy Rides Away" and Hank William's "The Blues Man".

As a young child his parents encouraged him as he continued to progress musically. After watching the country music awards at the age of fourteen, he knew that he wanted to perform. Since he had his mother's help, he was able to get his foot in the door and preformed at a local VFW hall in Macon, Georgia. After performing, he had to be dragged of the stage because he had become hooked on playing. He began to play at local fairs and star in talent contests. At the age of fifteen, he joined the "house band" at the Macon nightspot of Nashville South.

After moving to Music City, Aldean was offered several recording contracts, but they did not work out. The various showcases also failed to bring him contracts, so the last straw was the attempt at the Wildhorse Saloon; in which he was spotted by Lawrence Mathis at one of his showcases. Mathis was signed as Aldean's first manager, but he was still frustrated with his career. He decided to give himself six months and would then return home to Georgia. Five weeks later, he was offered a contract form Broken Bow Records in Nashville and this was the beginning of something far from great.

Reaching the Mark

Jason Aldean's first single, "Hicktown" in 2005 was released. His album provided him with his first Number 1 hit with "Why", in addition to "Amarillo Sky" , which had been a non-charting single in 2002 for "McBride the Ride".

In 2006, Aldean received the title of "Top New Male Vocalist" at the Academy of Country Music Awards. In the United States, the album Jason Aldean sold over a million copies and in 2007, it was certified platinum by the RIAA.

In January 2007, he spent most of his time in the studio to complete his second album Relentless, which was released May 9, 2007. The lead-off single, "Johnny Cash", which was first recorded by Tracy Byrd, reached the peak at number six when he released it. "Laughed Until We Cried" the follow up, became his fifth consecutive top ten hit. It was also certified gold.

December 1, 2008, Aldean released the seventh single entitled "She's Country" to radio. The single is the first from his third album Wide Open, which was released April 2009. It debuted at number fifty-one on Hot Country Songs. This became his seventh Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and was the second Number 1 hit since "Why?" Jason Aldean continues to show his passion for music and remains to be in the hearts of many avid country lovers.
