Jadakiss – Raps Kiss Of Death

“Yeah, I got my staff right, my management, my legal attorney’s, and my business advisors right. Everything is in order now. It was just a gut feeling. Nothing (with Kiss of Death) was rushed.”  Jadakiss

Early Years

Jadakiss is an American rapper who was born in New York and started free styling rap rhymes at a very age.  He even took part at a competition in Florida. By 1994 he started his own rap band simply called Lox. Jadakiss became good friends with Notorious BIG; Jadakiss even spoke about the friendship in their song which was featured a B-side on the Puff Daddy single “I’ll be missing you”. After the release of a few albums they left the Bad Boy recording label.

Going Solo

Jadakiss, released his first album “Kiss the Game Goodbye” in 2001 on Interscope records. The album featured renowned rap start such as DMX and Snoop Dogg. The album peaked at No.5 on the US mainstream album charts and made it all the way to top of RnB charts. The album production featured several producers including The Neptunes. The 21-song set has been certified Gold.

After several live shows and featuring on other artists records; Jadakiss returned with “Kiss of Death”. Released in 2004, the album debut straight into No. 1 on the US album charts. It was one of the best East Coast rap sounds to have come out that year. Critical acclaim was mixed and the album went on to sell 500,000 copies certifying it as Jadakiss’s second Gold record.

Controversy

Jadakiss has had feuds with many rap artists. Such with P.Diddy who controlled the right of the songs from his band the LOX. Jadakiss would publicly demand that Diddy handover the rights back. Eventually the matter was settled and LOX have resigned with Diddy’s Bad Boy entertainment.

He also had a massive feud with 50 Cents, both of them taking shots at each other from their songs. Eventually the two would settle their differences and Jadakiss even appeared with 50 Cent on stage

The Future

In 2009, Jadakiss released his third album “The Last Kiss” which debut at No 3 on the US album charts. He simultaneously released 5 videos for as many singles from the album. The album was released on Rock-a-Fella records which is party owned by Jay-Z. The album featured several collaborations including Mary J. Blige, Pharrell, and Lil Wayne. The album also featured a song “Letter for BIG” which featured Notorious BIG’s widow Faith Evans. The song appeared on the soundtrack to the movie “Notorious”

Jadakiss is currently completed the recording of his band LOX’s new album which is set to be released in 2010. This album will be released on P. Diddy’s bad Boy records as part of the newly signed recording deal.
