Hollywood Undead began in the streets of Hollywood, blending hip-hop, rock and minor metal core with a little touch of cocky posture and thug-like attitudes. They got there start in 2005 from a song titled "The Kids". The group owes much of their exposure and popularity to a major social networking site, which started out as a musical project by J-Dog and Tha Producer in June 2005. All they did was upload new music to their profile and these quickly began to accumulate song plays. Online pals also contributed with tracks that had content about drinking, sex, and emo kids.

Hollywood Undead- Internet Sensation

"Our music and lyrics are just a communication of our lives. That's the best way to define it. It's all extremely and explicitly honest about the stuff we go through-love, hate and pain."

The group eventually grew into seven members: J-dog, Tha Producer, Charlie Scene, Jonny Tears, Funny Man, Shaddy Jeff and DA Kurlzz, who he soon left the group after a few months. They create perceptive, sharp and sarcastic raps that exceeded the mainstream pop culture. They are defiantly not the average rap or rock group.

As the band's online profile continued its steady increase in popularity, the creator of the networking site featured the group's song "No. 5". The track looked into the frivolities of Hollywood with clever and catchy choruses. In addition, they were provided with the distinction of being the first act to be signed to the site's new record label in 2005. In 2008, Swan Songs their debut album, which took one year to complete, was released on September 2, 2008. It peaked at number 22 on Billboard 200 in the first week, sold 21,000 copies and was later released in the UK on May 18, 2009.

Hollywood Undead- Unique Sound

Hollywood Undead has the potential to cause the earth to shatter and go far beyond cyberspace as many describe. "Undead", the album opener provided the atmosphere with melodies and buoyant beats. The other track "Los Angeles" takes an examination of the town's evil edge.

There sound slices with a unique hip-hop swagger and a menacing, hard rock antagonism. The band has recorded 17 songs with the help of Danny Lohner from Nine Inch Nails, who did the producing, Don Gilmore from Linkin Park and Deuce. J-Dog describes the sound as being a mix of different genres that holds no bar. The rap songs are meant for dancing at the clubs and are "in your face" as well as industrial. It is a collaboration of six unique individuals who have different thoughts yet manage to come together, and are not holding back. The songs tell the truth about what the average, suburban teens are thinking about. There is no one else who is rapping about how kid parties and the life of young people.

Mystery Behind the Mask

Hollywood Undead members wear masks that add to the band's mystique. Charlie Scene says that in order to keep things a mystery, they did not want people to know what they looked like. The mystery of the group is just as important as the identity of the band and their city. Each member brings something different, but refreshing and it has reached the hearts of many. Teenagers say that they can relate to the band's lyrics and it is what makes them stand out amongst the rest.
