What makes them special is that they create a formula by closely watching and learning from the rock legends, such as Guns N' Roses and Areosmith. They then sprinkle their magic with their own catchy guitar tunes. The track "Born to Be Wild" was made for NASCAR in 2008 and definitely says a lot about who they are.
Hinder - Not Your Average Band
"We bring the fun back into Rock-n-Roll!"
Hinder, the new buzz in the Rock-n-Roll world continues to get people hooked.
The rock band was formed in 2001, in Oklahoma, by Cody Hanson (drummer), Joe Garvey (guitarist) and Austin Winkler (singer). The music they play has been referred to as rowdy and melodic, and is loved by those who also love the extreme spectrum in music. Living to the max is the band's mantra and they make music which is wild and rugged. The songs that they write are written from their soul, which is the life they lead.
Hinder- Winkler as Founder
The group was first founded by Winkler, who used to play in a band doing cover songs along with a friend of his, Cody Hanson. Together, they penned the song "Lips of an Angel" for Hinder which was produced by Brian Howes. The single reached # 3 on Billboard Hot 100.
The group of five managed to get a loan for $45,000 and galloped to Vancouver, where they recorded six demos, in an effort to launch their serious career in the music industry. In April, 2003 they entered into a Bandness Contest for a radio station in OK City. They did make it to the finals, but unfortunately they did not win. They band lost to Falcon Five-O, a local OKC group. Later in the year, Far from Close an extended play recording was released by an independent producer.
Extreme behavior
In the beginning of their career, they performed anywhere and everywhere. They were just testing out and getting a better feel of their music. Finally, they released the Extreme Behavior album and it sold three million copies. In 2005, the single "Get Stoned" was their entrance into rock culture. This was when the group really started to spread their wings and fly. The track "Lips of an Angel" had the audience merrily singing along and hit #1 on various charts, while gaining attention around the world.
The success of any band depends on their loyal fan club, and the band's fans have defiantly contributed to them being as successful as they are today. In order to show their appreciation towards the Hinder Army in 2005, as a holiday present to them; the group dedicated a song titled "Little Drummer Boy", which was released on the fan club's website. Then they launched their special limited edition Extreme Behavior -You Can't Make This Shit Up". On July 15th, 2008 they released the album Use Me which topped at # 3 on the U.S Mainstream Rock Tracks.
The second song "With You" was released in September 2008, via MySpace on their corporate page. In addition, another track was released, which was titled "Take it to the limit". It came in on the Billboard 200 at number four and sold over 81,000 copies in the first week of its release.
Take it to the limit, the group's new album released in November 2008, has reflected the change of their music style. This album has touched on the classic 80's rock and has gained Hinder, new fans. Their online page on MySpace provided them with mileage in the industry with over 28 million hits.
