The Formation

Hatebreed was started in New Haven, Connecticut Jamey Jasta always wanted be a part of a band and he is real driving force of the band. Citing various heavy metal bands as inspiration he started writing and recording music demos. In 1995 they released a 3-song EP which garnered a lot of interest in the band. And in 1996 they signed to Victory Records, who had shown a lot of interest based on the touring and demo recording.

In the same year they released the very powerful first album entitled " Satisfaction is the Death of Desire". This was the bands breakthrough moment and has often been called as a Hardcore classic. As typical with the genre most of the songs were under 3 minutes. Even though at Victory Records had some of the big names on their bill but the Hatebreed album was the labels biggest selling album

The band was always touring and they loved it. Jamey Jasta was able to secure a tour with the likes of Slayer, Metallica and Seputura! Much to the shock of the band, the band did actually opened for bigger bands.

The Next Metal Chapter

The bands constant touring was part of their philosophy to always stay in touch with their audience. They released "Perseverance" which was another classic metal album. The band had left Victory records and signed to Universal just prior to the release of the album. Another powerful album with distorted metal guitar and power of the lead vocalist - this album is surely not for the weak hearted.

The 2003 "Rise of Brutality" is considered by many the bands best work. Their song Live for This" was also nominated for a Grammy awards. Again the doom and dark lyrics continued in this album and so did the musical style of punk-metal and punk hardcore. The band set out on a headlining tour. The shows would packed and it was the incredible interest in the band due to their third album that such enthusiastic crowds were attending the show. The album peaked at No.30 on the US charts a feat which has yet to be surpassed

After relentless an daunting touring schedule, the band took a break. In 2006 they also appeared as the headliner for the second stage concert.

Raw Power

In 2006 after a relatively low period they went on a European tour.

The bands new album "Supremacy" has an air of self assurance and confidence. The album was released on Road Runner records, lyrically their strongest album to date. Jamey Jasta's wrote about the his own struggles of his life through themes of guilt, sadness alienation and paranoia. It again reached No. 31 on the US charts. Most critical evaluation of the band were very positive in this time.

Another lengthy tour and an headline slot on the second stage of Ozzfest! This brought them widespread acclaim. Ozzfest is the premier event on the Metal calendar. A new deal with Koch Records which is owned by the No.1 Indie label in the US meant a live DVD, live album and a cover album. The cover album released was called "For The Lions". Their selection of the songs was quite interesting and the album was received well. It did not chart in the US or UK

In 2009 they released their self-titled fifth album. The record was more aggressive in their music and lyrical style. In 2009 they went on tour with Slipknot, Korn and Slayer. The aggressiveness this time les not in the direct approach of the previous album but head banging anthems and rich production.

The band has played to sell-out crowds and has carved a niche for themselves based on honest and straightforward Metal music.
