Gucci Mane- The Rising Star

Gucci Mane started out in elementary school writing poetry; who would have thought that a lover of creating poetry would be a famous rapper someday. By the time he turned fourteen, he was rapping and expressing himself through his flows which was definitely a sign of star potential. He eventually signed with Big Cat Records and "Black Tee", his debut single, received plenty of requests and air time on the local radio stations frequently.

In 2005, he released Trap House, which was his independent unveiling that featured a successful single called "Icy" with Young Jeezy. However, there were disagreements about who the rights of the single belonged to and as a result; there was a rift that had come in between them. The said album was followed up with the 2006 album Hard To Kill.

Back The Trap House, Gucci Mane's 2007 release which featured the popular single "Freaky Gurl" placed at number twelve on the Hot Rap Track Chart, number nineteen on the chart of Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and number sixty two on the Hot 100 Chart. He then released his latest album, The State vs. Racric Davis, in which the single "Wasted" had high ranking on charts, such as being number thirty six on Hot 100, number three on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and number four on Rap Songs. This single is his most successful album so far.

Legal Troubles

Although Gucci Mane has raised himself to star hood, he has also had some pitfalls along the way. In May, 2005, Davis was assaulted by a group of men who were attempting to steal his trademark "So Icey" chain. The companion that was accompanying him shot at the group and at least one of the men was killed. The body of one the attackers were found at a middle school building. Davis turned himself in to the police and was charge with the murder. He claimed that the shots were only done in self defense and later, the charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence.

In an unrelated matter that past October, he had pleaded no contest to an assault charge for the assaulting a club promoter. He severed six months in prison and was released in January 2006. G- Mane, in September 2008, was then arrested for parole violation because he had completed only twenty five days out of six hundred community service hours for his 2005 arrest for the assault case. For this offense, he served a year in prison, but after six months was released.

Again in November 2009, G-Mane was sentenced to do a year in prison, which was then shortened to six months for good behavior. This last arrest was a huge blow to his career. Though struggles have come his way, the rapper still believes that he can and will definitely get back in the music world, doing what he does best.
