Duel Careers
While on the set of Kids Incorporated; Fergie , a colleague, Renee Sandstrom, along with female friend Stefanie Ridel formed the all girl group Wild Orchid. The group was active from 1991-2001. The trio released two complete albums, then shot for a third. The record label wouldn't sign on for the third album, and Fergie left after. During this time Fergie was still pursuing her acting career. She played the role of Ann in an episode of Married with Children in 1994. She also continued to act on the television show Kids Incorporated.
An Affair with Meth
During her stint with Wild Orchids, Fergie became addicted to crystal meth. Even after leaving the group, she continued to use drugs. In 2006 an interview with Time magazine revealed how difficult this period was for her. She was quoted as saying "It was the hardest boyfriend I ever had to break up with". She attributes a lot of her drug use to suppressing feelings while being a child actor.
Teen Years
In a recent interview, Fergie admits that when she turned 18, she went on a sex and drugs spree. While she refused to say how many men she had been with she simply claimed that she was a 'very sexual person'. She states she had lesbian affairs and is bisexual. When asked how she would feel should she be judged for her sexual preferences she stated, "No, it doesn't bother me. I'm just me."
Rise to Stardom
In 2003, Fergie teamed up with the already established Black Eyed Peas. When front man will.i.am heard her sing the track Shut Up he instantly accepted her to the trio. She went on to perform five more songs for the album Elephunk. The biggest single from that album featured Justin Timberlake, Where is the Love? Topped singles charts in over ten countries. Right before the album was released, she was asked to take over and be the lead vocalist for the band. She was able to see two successful albums with The Black Eyed Peas before she decided to try out a solo career.
Solo
Her debut solo album came out in 2006. The Dutchess gave her six hit singles and was quickly one of the most free mp3 downloaded debut albums of all time. Her biggest hit, Big Girls Don't Cry became her very first #1 hit worldwide. It has also been her most successful single to date. During the American Music Awards in 2007, she won for Favorite Female Artist. She was also nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, she did not win this award.
She continued to see success as her song Labels of Love found its way on the Sex and the City movie soundtrack.
Back in the Band
After three years of a very successful solo career, Fergie went back to The Black Eyed Peas. Their album The E.N.D. contained the huge hit Boom Boom Pow. This song quickly went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Their second single from the album, I Gotta Feeling became yet another success. It stayed fourteen weeks straight at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. This was the longest running #1 hit in the year 2009. This made the Black Eyed Peas #1 on the countdown with their back to back hits for nearly six months straight.
