Mississippi Born
Born in September of 1967, Faith Hill began singing at an early age. When she was seven she had her first public performance, it was at a 4H luncheon. She attempted college but her heart was not in it. When she was 19 she left to go to Nashville.
She became a secretary at a music publishing firm. In 1988 she married her first husband Dan Hill. Before long, she found herself singing backup vocals for Gary Burr. It was during one of her performances that an executive from Warner Bros. Records spotted her and signed her.
Rise to Stardom
Right as her first album, Take Me as I Am came out Faith Hill found her marriage ending. She and her husband of six years split a year after her album released. With her first single, Wild One, she was the first female country singer in thirty years to hold the number one position on the billboard charts for four consecutive weeks.
Following with the success of her first single Faith Hill followed it up with two more hits. Piece of my Heart was a big success. More from her album included the title track as well as But I Will.
In 1995, Faith Hill released her second album. She saw even more success with this album as she did with the first. With five top ten hits, one reaching number one on the charts she had shown that her first album was more than beginners luck.
Love on the Road
In the spring of 1996 Faith Hill began to tour with Tim McGraw. At the time she was engaged to her producer. They found an instant attraction and Faith broke off her engagement to begin dating Tim. During the tour they got engaged and were married by October of that very same year.
After the tour she took a break from recording and touring. They decided that they wanted a family together. Just one year later they had their first daughter, Gracie Katherine. The following year they had another daughter, Maggie Elizabeth. It was during this time that she and husband Tim McGraw performed their first duet. It's Your Love became a chart topping award winning hit for the two of them.
Crossover
In 1998 Faith Hill was ready to get back into the game. She began working on her new album entitled Faith. Her first single, This Kiss became a hit not only on the country charts but on the pop charts as well. She followed up with three more hits, one including another duet with her husband.
The following year she released another pop/country album. Breathe debuted at the top of the charts. With this album she was able to see three Grammy wins. Her wins included Best Country Album, Best Country Collaboration with Vocals for Let's Make Love another duet with Tim McGraw. She also won for Best Female Vocal Performance for the title track.
In 2000 she began to do work for soundtracks. She recorded a song for How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Shortly after, she found herself on the soundtrack to Pearl Harbor. At this time she released a greatest hits album that included her Pearl Harbor single. During all of this she gave birth to their third daughter, Audrey Caroline.
In 2002 she released yet another pop album entitled Cry. Her country fans began to feel betrayed and wondered what happened to her country roots. Nevertheless she won a Grammy for the album and sold over three million copies. After taking a few years off she co starred in the remake of The Stepford Wives.
Back to Country
In 2005 Faith Hill returned to country with her new album, Fireflies. Her first single Mississippi Girl reached number one quickly. After that she did another duet with her husband entitled Like We Never Loved at All, this song made it to the top 5. She had two more singles that made it into the top 10.
In 2006 Faith Hill and Tim McGraw went on tour together. It became the highest grossing country music tour to date.
She is expected to release her seventh album in 2010.
