Disciple

“What we want to do is basically design a social stigma

Disciple is a Christian rock metal band that has been around since the early 1990s. This group of guys has continued to prove that they have what it takes to continue to release powerful and rock filled songs for well over a decade.

Starting Out

In 1991, Knoxville, Tennessee a group of high school kids got together to form a band. The three boys consisted of lead singer Kevin Young, drummer Tim Barrett and guitarist Brad Noah. In 1995, What was I Thinking helped Disciple to get signed by Warner Resound.

Stardom

Disciple released an EP in 1997. The five song track was entitled, My Daddy can Whip Your Daddy. It was after this that they were picked up by a new record company called Rugged Records.

In 1999, the album, This Might Sting a Little helped them to sky rocket into fame. With this album they began to see award nominations from the GMA Dove Awards. This Might Sting a Little also gave them their first two number one hits.

Continued Success

One year after the success of their second full length album, Disciple released By God. An Inspirational Life Award was won for them in 2001 with the help of this album. In addition to the award they were also able to see two more number one hits as well as two more nominations for the Dove Awards

Self Labeled

Disciple decided to leave Rugged Records and begin their very own label. In 2003, they had their own label, Slain Records. It was at this time that they dropped Back Again. With this album they were able to add another two number one hits to their resume. It was at this time that they added bassist, Joey Fife to their band.

Another Label Change

In 2005, Disciple decided to sign up with SRE recordings. With this label they were able to release their fifth full length album. Disciple came out in 2005 and gave them three number one hits as well as two more nominations from the Dove Awards.

In the fall of 2006, Disciple released Scars Remain, their sixth full length studio album. With this song they were able to get the eighth most played song in 2007 on the Christian radio stations with After the World. It was this song that became their tenth number one Christian rock hit. They also saw two more nominations from the Dove Awards.

Switching it Up

In early 2008, it was announced that bassist Joey Fife and guitarist Brad Noah were going to no longer be active band members of Disciple. While he no longer performed or toured with them Brad Noah still took part in helping them to write songs as well as play on the recordings of the upcoming albums. It was at this time that they introduced two new members of Disciple.

Bassist Israel Beachy and guitarist Andrew Welch were there to help Disciple kick off their Cross the Line tour in spring of 2008. One month after the tour started Disciple also added a new guitarist in Micah Sannan.

Current Work

In the fall of 2008, Southern Hospitality was released as their seventh full length album. The band is currently still touring and working on the possibility of their eighth album.
