New York Borders
The group Cute is what We Aim For got its start in the New York state border city of Buffalo when a group of high school friends go together and decided they wanted to form their own band. The group began touring under the category of pop emo and would play various clubs and venues around their home city for awhile to gather up attention that they would need to sign a record and produce albums. After some time touring, the group would sign with the indie record label Fueled By Ramen and would go on to release demos as well as a few albums.
Early Rocky Start
The group Cute is what We Aim For would have a rough beginning as they would be in constant internal struggle with the many conflicting personalities that would create the group. The group would fire their original manager Brandon Davis after Davis accused the group of engaging in business practices that were considered unethical and would also have to look for a new bassist. However, with all of the internal struggles, the group would manage to sing with Fueled By Ramen in November of 2005.
After signing to the record label, the band produced their first full length set called The Same Old Blood Rush with a New Touch, which would amazingly debut at the spot of seventy five on the Billboard 200. However, more struggles with the band would see the bassist Climato leave in the fall of 2006, prompting another search for a new member, which would come in the name of Jack Marin. Apparently, the group’s members were not much for social values as Marin would eventually leave only six months after his signing with the group for conflicts with the existing members.
He would later return to the group in late 2007 after some things were changed and the band had to realize that they must get along with people even though there were differences in opinion. This was a key part to any successful rock n’ roll group, as was finishing high school as was Climato’s priority for leaving once again.
Touring the Land
The group Cute is what We Aim For would have gained recognition in the rock n’ roll world and be afforded a four month tour that would take them throughout the United States as well as the United Kingdom. The tour ended on August 17 but they would quickly ensue on another route where they would play with bands such as Simple Plan. More troubles with conflict ensue and drummer Tom Falcone would announce on September 2, 2008 that he would no longer be a part of the group due to the drama and personalities of other members.
No one from the band Cute is what We Aim For has yet to comment on his leaving. In 2009, the group began as the headliner for the Take No Action Tour and would produce a demo called Catch 22 as well as the single release of Time that would later appear on the movie sound track for the film Jennifer’s Body. After the release of this demo, the group would eventually break up. Hicikyan would announce that he was leaving the group to pursue a solo career on August 18, 2009 and the other members Dave Melillo and Jeff Czum would part ways with Cute is what We Aim For to start their own new group called Nocturnal Me.
The official web site for the group is still running of the present and fans can find more information on the history of the group as well as possibly finding some of their music available as free music downloads or at least internet screening.
