Buck Cherry

Cocaine hasn’t been that popular in a long time. I mean crystal meth kinda screwed up the whole coke market cause its cheaper and you stay up longer.

California Born

The group Buckcherry was formed in the state of California by members Josh Todd and Keith Nelson who found common ground in their love of the rock group AC/DC. The two guys would later be joined by bassist Jonathan Brightman and Devon Glenn, where they formed the band called Sparrow. The group began performing for the Hollywood club scene and gained a reputable following of a localized nature. They would sign with Dream Works Studios where they would then change their name to the present Buckcherry.

First Release

The group would release their first album that was self titled in 1999 called Buckcherry and would go on to be certified as a gold album. The group would add the rhythm guitarist Yogi Lonich to their ensemble in 1999 as well and begin a hectic touring schedule to promote their self titled album release. The group would open up for industry greats such as Lenny Kravitz on the Freedom Tour. After, Buckcherry would go back to the studio to produce their second album called Time Bomb although this album would not gain the attention as their first album did.

The group became the subject of many internal issues and after personality conflicts members Jonathan Brightman, Yogi Lonich, and Devon Glenn would leave the band to pursue other aspects of musical stardom; however, Josh Todd and Keith Nelson would continue the name. Although the intentions of the duo were to stick with it and even going as far as to begin writing new songs for another album, Josh Todd would up and quit the band that year and this was said would be the demise of the group. Although the two split, they would come back together and perform with Slash from Guns N’ Roses at the Randy Castillo tribute concert.

Many thought that this would lead to a beginning of a new band with Slash, Duff McKagan, and Matt Sorum. However, Slash had many other ideas where the band was headed and Josh Todd, after spending many days and nights writing songs for the group, was fired by Slash to bring in Stone Temple Pilots’ Scott Weiland to form the band Velvet Revolver. This was unexpected and both Neilson and Todd were upset by this move.

Neilson and Todd would go back to their roots of Buckcherrry but then more trouble arrived in a sexual lawsuit by a young girl who claimed she was coerced into performing topless at one of their concerts. The group would go on to hire an attorney that would get them relieved of the lawsuit on the grounds that there were numerous places where the girl stated she was older than she actually was.

Back On Tour

Buckcherry would go back on tour in 2008 on the Crue Fest Tour and released their fourth album called Black Butterfly, which would make it to number eight on many of the charts. The group had gained the confidence of many new groups during this time and was afforded the opportunity to go on tours for most of the last two years. They would also gain fame from across the Atlantic Ocean in the UK as well. They would also release another album that was live called Live & Loud 2009. The album would begin another tour for the group in which they were the headlining band.
