Breaking Benjamin - It Started with a Fallen Microphone
They got their name when Benjamin broke the microphone at an open mike night back in 1998. It had gone through one name change, but after deciding that it wasn't for them, they went back to being known as Breaking Benjamin. This band now consists of Benjamin Burnley, Aaron Fink, Jeremy Hummel, and Mark Klepaski. They officially deemed the name Breaking Benjamin in 2001 after much deliberation.
The Beginning of Fame
They were signed with Hollywood Records since 2002. Before that, they had released one record on their own which did quite well. They sold over two thousand copies of that album. Since they have started with Hollywood Records though, this band has been said to have produced four great albums.
The first album that they created was Saturate which was released in2002; the same year that Breaking Benjamin signed with Hollywood Records. It was in the top 100 most requested songs on the Billboards Heatseekers Chart.
They then went onto create their first single as a band. This was titled Polyamorous. This is one song the band doesn't talk about much. It didn't go as far as many of their albums. It had seemed that all of the radio stations had loved this, however, as a whole; audiences didn't give it the attention they thought it would receive.
From there, they worked on their next album which was released in 2004. You fans know it as You Are Not Alone. Within the first week, Breaking Benjamin had sold over forty eight thousand copies of this album. The album was at the top of charts for a long while. This track was so warmly welcomed that one of the songs was played on two different television shows. The shows Summerland and then performed on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Chad Szeliga had replaced Jeremy Hummell who wasn't quite so nice to the band that took him in. After being fired from the band, he sued them and lost. What would have cost this band eight million dollars, they replaced him and the band lives on. That year in 2004 after having lost Jeremy Hummell, the band produced another album which was titled So Cold EP. From there, this band has only been granted success as they have created two other albums since then. Phobia was released in 2006 followed by Dear Agony which was released in 2008 first in Australia, then in the United States.
Together, Breaking Benjamin has made a truly great load of music and has come far as a band. Their grunge music as it is often referred to have made the charts and has made fans go wild. The MySpace blog that they have is frequented fans that adore all the work that they have created. It is said that fans cannot wait until the next album comes out and they are hoping for a new one soon. Just when that will be has not been stated as of yet, but don't be surprised when you do find out. Someone always does.
