Big Apple Born
The rapper that would eventually be known to the world as Big Punisher would grow up in the Puerto Rican block of the inner city of New York’s South Bronx area. It was said that his childhood years were difficult in the fact that his mother had the tendency to abuse drugs and a stepfather that was very hard on the family in general. He would drop out of high school at the first chance and was said to be homeless for quite some time while he was trying to get his musical career together.
Bangin’ Out Success
He would form a couple of rap groups in the early 1980’s but it wasn’t until later that he would go solo. In 1995, he would meet another Puerto Rican rapper called Fat Joe and would end up making his solo album debut. Big Punisher would be featured on the album. He would have his first major single hit called Knobody. He would then go on to produce his second full length studio album called Capital Punishment, which would be the first album to be certified platinum by a solo Latino rapper.
It would make it to number five on the Billboard 200. From this album, he was nominated for a Grammy Award although he would not win and be bested by JayZ. During this same time, he would become a member of what was called the Terror Squad, which was a group of rappers in the New York area and they would release the album called The Album in 1999.
Jumpstart Success
Big Punisher would create his second album called Yeeeah Baby in 1999 and it would be released in April of 2000. The album would climb to the number three position on the Billboard Albums charts and would eventually earn the gold certification shortly after its release. Another compilation album would be released in 2001, which was after his death. The album would feature the artists greatest hits as well as material that was previously unreleased.
The album would climb to the number seven position on the Billboard 200 although it would not sell as many albums as his previous ones. He would also be featured on an album called The Final Chapter, which was a release of an album that was created by late rapper Notorious B.I.G. along with Fat Joe and Big Punisher.
Although Big Punisher would only create two albums throughout his career, he would be featured on many different albums as a collaborating artist. Many of his fans may find free music downloads or songs available for internet screening.
Tragedy Strikes
Big Punisher would form a couple of rap groups and would also star in a movie called Urban Menace, which was dubbed as a “ghetto” movie although it gained very little attention. He would struggle his entire life with the problem of obesity and it would eventually catch up with him at the turn of the century.
He would enroll in a weight loss program in North Carolina but would eventually quit and gain back the mass that he lost while in the program. In February of 2000, he would suffer a myocardial infarction. This would lead to respiratory failure and he would be pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Many would refer to the rapper by his nickname, which was Big Pun.
There would be the release of an album called Endangered Species that was released to the public after his death.
There was a documentary released as a tribute to the artist in 2009 called Big Pun: The Legacy and would feature artists such as Snoop Dogg and DMX.
