Ashley Tisdale is a young accomplished singer and actress. She gained her popularity in the extremely popular High School Musical movies. Early Start

Ashley Tisdale was born July of 1985 in New Jersey. Growing up in Ocean Township, she became acquainted with her current manager, Bill Perlman. It wasn’t long before he began to find spots for her on commercials. This resulted in Ashley having over one hundred ads at a young age. In addition to commercials, she also tried her hand at the theater. Her first two shows were The Sound of Music as well as Gypsy: A Musical Fable

From the late 1990s into the early 2000s, Ashley Tisdale kept busy. She began take small roles on television shows and movies. One of the shows that she played a part in, Boston Public earned her a nomination. In 2000, Ashley received a Young Artist Award nomination for the Best Guest Performance on a TV Drama.

Regular Work

In March of 2005, she got a recurring role on The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. This gave her work until 2008. For this role, she received an award from the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards.

It was also in 2005 that she landed the part of Sharpay Evens in the Disney channel original movie, High School Musical. In 2006, the movie premiered. Tisdale had sung several different songs for the movie’s soundtrack. This soundtrack became a top selling album. This in turn had helped Tisdale to be the very first female artist that had two songs on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time. These songs included Bop to the Top as well as What I’ve Been Looking For. These songs were also some of the most popular free mp3 downloads of 2006.

Singer

Along with the rest of the cast, Ashley began to tour on the High School Musical: The Concert tour. This tour took them to forty different U.S. cities as well as South America.

In July of 2006, Warner Bros. Records signed a record deal with Tisdale. For the re-release of the Disney Classic The Little Mermaid, Ashley recorded a cover of Kiss the Girl. In addition to this, she also covered Last Christmas by Wham!. It was this cover that was her first release through Warner Bros.

In February of 2007, Ashley released her first album through Warner Bros. entitled Headstrong. On the Billboard 200, her album debuted at #5.

Back to School

In August of 2007, High School Musical 2 premiered. On the night of the premier, Disney received seventeen million viewers, nearly ten million more than the first movie. In October of 2008, the third and final installment of the High School Musical movies premiered. This movie was released in theaters. For this role, she won an MTV Movie Award for Breakthrough Performance Female.

Current

In 2009, Tisdale released Guilty Pleasure, her second album. The album debuted at #12 on the Billboard 200. There are many rumors of future movie projects in Tisdale’s near future.
