Alter Bridge was formed with members of the band Creed, which had gone through issues with the bands lead singer which caused them to breakup. The band was founded by Mark Tremonti and Scott Phillips who had decided to continue to work together after the break up.

“The good thing about Myles is that guitar-wise we come from different schools. He’s more of a jazz-based player. He likes all of the heavy classic-rock stuff, too, but his take on things is different than mine. I’ve got more of the metal approach to it. So we don’t step on each other’s toes.”

This American rock band was formed in 2004, by former band members of the famous band Creed. The group is currently based out of Florida, and has shown that their music will continue to bring fame and success to the band members.

Formation of the group

Alter Bridge was formed with members of the band Creed, which had gone through issues with the bands lead singer which caused them to breakup. The band was founded by Mark Tremonti and Scott Phillips who had decided to continue to work together after the break up. Both members decided to invite Myles Kennedy who had performed with the band The Mayfield Four, which was a rock band that that they had previously toured with in their earlier careers. Upon searching for a bass player they decided to invite former Creed bassist Brian Marshall to their new band.

Stepping into the light

Alter Bridge soon became a huge success upon the release of their first album One Day Remain in 2004. Upon the release of their album had produced multiple hit singles including the single “Metalingus” which is now the theme song for star Edge of the WWE. This album provided much gained attention, while it became a certified gold record for the band. The mixed forms of rock music that have been utilized by the group would be considered to be a mixture of hard rock, alternative metal, and post-grunge rock. With the band starting to perform on tour, their notoriety landed them the chance to perform at Ozzfest in 2005. The band has continued to have their music being made available through different medians such as the DVD of Live from Amsterdam which was released in February of 2010.

Continued Success

Even with Alter Bridge being made up of members of previously successful bands, the group has been provided a chance to make a name for themselves with the increase popularity of their most recent album Blackbird which was released in 2007, has provided a number of hit singles from the group. The band has had some of their singles being featured in movies, television, and even video games. The band had their single “Save Me” placed on the soundtrack for the 2005 movie release of Elektra. Within television the band has had singles used for different programs. Such as WWE Unforgiven 2007 which used their single “Rise Today”. The same single was also performed in the first trailer for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, as well with the sixth season promo commercial for CSI: Miami. With the increase of technology members of the group have made pages on myspace.com to allow their music to be heard free of charge.

Charity

The band has been directly involved with the Haiti relief fund. They have been helping out the relief fund by donating their own money to the fund and by encouraging others to donate money to the fund. The group is just one of many groups raising money, they have assisted with raising over one million dollars in donations and supplies.  Lead guitarist Mark Tremonti has also made available a signed guitar of his to be auctioned off with the proceeds going to charity.
