Alien Ant Farm
We want to make music that is timeless.
A Great Beginning
The rock n’ roll alternative group Alien Ant Farm gained quick recognition after their first album to music audiences in the United States. The group released their album called Greatest Hits, which would go on to win the Best Independent Album at the Los Angeles Music Awards.
The group would go on to gain the attention of many up and coming rock bands in the United states such as Papa Roach and others to create a supporting role in the many tours that these new bands would embark on. In 2000, the group would sign with Dream Works SKG to produce their first studio album called Anthology, which would feature a number one single that was released off the album.
First Albums
The group would release the album Anthology in the year 2000 that would feature a cover of Michael Jackson’s hit Smooth Criminal. The single would go to the top of the charts in countries other than the United States such as number one in Australia, and number three in the United Kingdom while it would go to number one on the US Modern Rock Charts.
Another single off of the album would gain attention in the UK and the group Alien Ant Farm would promptly begin a tour in support of the album. Eventually, the album would be certified platinum selling well over one million copies throughout the world. The band would also contribute the song Bug Bytes, which would later be featured on the Spiderman soundtrack.
After their tour, the group went back to the studio to produce their second studio album called Truant that would be released later in 2003 and was produced by brothers Robert and Dean DeLeo. The first single off of the album would be titled These Days and be one of their first music videos. Their next single titled Glow, would gain a lot of airplay in New Zealand where it broke into the Top 20 charts.
New Albums and Member Splits
Alien Ant Farm had some apparent problems with the BET Awards as their first music video was filmed while the BET Awards were being held and again in 2003 the group would crash the awards show being kicked out by police with a warning. Later in the year, their guitarist ended up leaving the band due to internal conflicts and the band would pick of Victor Camacho to help them finish the tour.
Geffen records became their new record label but would have problems with releasing their new albums on time. Other songs that were created during this time would appear on video games such as Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and the song Courage would appear on the ATV Off Road Fury 2 video game. The group would go on to release their next album called Up In the Attic to a worldwide audience. Unfortunately for the group, very little response was given to its release and the band has experienced somewhat of a down time since its release.
However, the group gained a solid following and still continue to tour the United States as well as Europe. The many fans can find their official web site very helpful for up coming events and more history on the individual members of the band. One may also find free music downloads available on other web sites throughout the internet.
Did You Know
Alien Ant Farm has appeared to be broken up after the last album, however there are many rumors that some original members are getting the band back together.
